Help Build the Financial Foundation of a Growing Startup
Are you an accounting, finance, or business student looking to gain practical experience beyond the classroom?
TiriVelo is looking for a detail-oriented Finance & Accounting Operations Intern to help establish the financial processes and reporting systems that will support the growth of TiriVelo Labs.
This is an opportunity to work closely with the founder of an early-stage Canadian technology company, contribute to meaningful projects, and gain exposure to the financial operations behind launching a new business division.
About TiriVelo
TiriVelo Pet Care Inc. is a Canadian technology company developing a digital marketplace designed to connect pet owners with independent pet care providers.
We're also building TiriVelo Labs, our UX/UI design and digital product strategy division, which will work with businesses across Canada and the United States.
As we prepare to introduce Labs to the market, we're putting the financial systems, processes, and operational foundations in place to support sustainable growth.
The Opportunity
You'll support the early development of TiriVelo Labs' finance and accounting operations, working alongside the founder and collaborating with our Operations and Legal teams.
Rather than focusing exclusively on routine bookkeeping, you'll gain exposure to how a startup plans project budgets, tracks revenue and expenses, organizes financial records, and prepares for future client engagements.
Your work will be guided and reviewed, with accounting-sensitive decisions and approvals remaining with authorized company leadership and qualified professionals.
What You'll Be Working On
- Financial systems setup: Assist with organizing Zoho Books, account categories, invoice templates, and supporting financial documentation.
- Bookkeeping and recordkeeping: Help maintain organized expense records, transaction documentation, and financial tracking spreadsheets.
- Project budgeting:
Support the development and maintenance of project economics calculators, including estimated delivery costs, contractor compensation, and company margins.
- Invoicing and payment administration: Prepare draft invoices, track payment statuses, and help document contractor invoicing workflows for review.
- Financial reporting: Assist in preparing internal monthly summaries of revenue, expenses, project profitability, and cash flow.
- Process improvement: Research practical accounting tools, identify opportunities to improve workflows, and help create clear financial procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Currently studying accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or participating in an eligible educational placement.
- Foundational understanding of bookkeeping, financial statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
- Clear written communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Interest in startups, professional services, and small-business financial operations.
Previous experience in bookkeeping, accounting administration, co-op placements, or finance-related internships is an asset.
Experience with Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software is welcome but not required.
What You'll Gain
- Practical startup experience: See how financial operations are established within a growing business.
- Direct collaboration: Work closely with the founder and gain exposure to business and financial decision-making.
- Hands-on learning: Build experience with financial tracking, invoice preparation, project budgets, and internal reporting.
- Cross-functional exposure: Collaborate with Operations, Legal, and other teams.
- Professional development: Strengthen your financial analysis, organization, and business communication skills.
- Meaningful project experience: Contribute to documented processes and operational improvements you can discuss in future interviews, subject to confidentiality requirements.
Who Should Apply?
This opportunity may be especially relevant to accounting or finance students who have completed introductory coursework and want to apply their knowledge in a real business environment.
We also welcome candidates who have gained practical experience through bookkeeping, administrative finance work, or previous internships and are interested in helping build the financial foundations of an emerging business.
Internship Details
- Remote position based in Canada.
- Approximately 10–15 hours per week, with scheduling coordinated around academic commitments.
- Four-month internship.
- Compensation and placement arrangements will be confirmed in accordance with applicable employment standards and educational placement requirements.
- Work will be supervised, and the intern will not independently authorize payments, make final accounting decisions, or provide tax or legal advice.
