Chief Financial Officer
Lead the financial strategy of a high-growth organization entering its next chapter of expansion.
Our client is a successful, multi-unit organization with a strong presence across Canada and an ambitious vision for continued growth, including expansion into the United States.
We are seeking an exceptional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join the senior leadership team and play a defining role in the organization’s future.
This is an opportunity for a true business leader — not simply a finance executive. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO will be a strategic partner to the CEO, board of directors, and senior leadership team, providing the financial insight, discipline, and vision required to scale a complex organization while identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities.
The Opportunity
The CFO will have enterprise-wide responsibility for the organization’s financial strategy, capital structure, financial performance, reporting, planning, and risk management.
Working closely with the CEO, the board and senior leadership team, the CFO will help translate the organization’s growth strategy into a clear and executable financial plan.
With continued expansion across Canada and plans to enter the U.S. market, this leader will be instrumental in ensuring the organization is financially prepared to scale — from systems and reporting to controls, forecasting, capital planning, and organizational capability.
The next phase will include further expansion, including acquisitions, and financing required to fund them. The CFO will own the financial architecture behind that growth.
This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to influence virtually every aspect of the business.
Key Leadership Priorities
The CFO will:
· Develop and execute the organization’s long-term financial strategy in alignment with corporate objectives.
· Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO, board of directors, ownership, and senior leadership team.
· Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and performance management.
· Establish best-in-class monthly financial reporting and business intelligence, providing leadership with timely, accurate, actionable insight.
· Develop financial models and metrics that drive accountability and informed decision-making across a multi-unit organization.
· Strengthen financial systems, processes, controls, and infrastructure to support continued scale.
· Evaluate opportunities for growth, expansion, investment, and capital allocation.
· Own the organization’s capital structure and lender relationships, including credit facilities, covenant management, and the financing of expansions.
· Oversee consolidated reporting across a multi-entity structure, including partner and shareholder reporting, distributions, and intercompany arrangements.
· Manage the annual audit, external advisors, and the reporting relationship with the Board of Directors.
· Help position the organization for U.S. expansion, including the financial and operational considerations associated with entering new markets.
· Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing finance team.
· Ensure strong governance, financial controls, compliance, and risk management.
· Partner with operational leaders to improve profitability, productivity, and overall enterprise performance.
· Bring a disciplined yet entrepreneurial approach to managing growth and opportunity.
The Leader We’re Seeking
We are looking for a proven CFO or senior finance executive who combines exceptional financial expertise with outstanding leadership and commercial judgment.
The ideal candidate will bring:
· CPA designation and a strong record of progressive finance leadership.
· Significant experience within a multi-unit, multi-location, or complex operating environment.
· Direct experience with lenders, credit facilities, and financing processes, ideally including a refinancing or growth financing.
· Experience in privately held, owner-led businesses, professional partnerships, or private-equity-backed platforms is an asset.
· Demonstrated success leading finance at an enterprise or senior executive level.
· Exceptional command of financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, analysis, and performance management.
· The ability to move seamlessly between strategic thinking and operational execution.
· A demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams.
· Solid executive presence and the credibility to influence stakeholders at every level.
· A sophisticated understanding of the relationship between financial performance and operational performance.
· Experience supporting significant growth, transformation, expansion, or organizational scaling.
· The ability to challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and make sound decisions in a fast-moving environment.
· A willingness and ability to travel across Canada and the United States as the business expands.
More Than a CFO
The successful candidate will be a builder.
You see finance not as a back-office function, but as a critical driver of strategy and growth. You have the ability to look at a financial statement and immediately begin asking the business questions behind the numbers.
You are analytical, commercially minded, and exceptionally strong at communicating financial information to non-financial leaders.
You know when to dive into the details and when to step back and look at the bigger picture.
You bring the confidence to challenge the status quo, the judgment to know when to do so, and the leadership skills to bring people with you.
Above all, you are excited by the opportunity to build something bigger.
Why This Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join an organization with strong momentum and significant growth potential and to have a meaningful seat at the table as it enters its next phase.
The CFO will have the opportunity to:
· Help define and execute the company’s next stage of growth.
· Partner directly with the CEO and senior leadership team.
· Shape the financial strategy of a growing national organization.
· Build the systems, team, and infrastructure required for scale.
· Play a key role in Canadian growth and U.S. expansion.
· Influence strategic investment and capital decisions.
· Make a lasting impact on the organization’s performance, culture, and future.
This is a confidential executive search. All inquiries will be handled with the utmost discretion.
If you are a CPA and an accomplished finance executive who is ready to take a meaningful leadership role in a growing organization — and are energized by the opportunity to help shape its next chapter — we would welcome a confidential conversation.
