Overview

We’re looking for an experienced WordPress developer to help us build and refresh our website over the next two months. You’ll report to our Marketing Manager, who will provide the design drafts and wireframes. Your job is to turn them into a fast, accessible, editor-friendly site built on a custom Full Site Editing block theme, with immersive WebGL experiences where the design calls for them.

What You’ll Do

- Build a custom FSE block theme (theme.json v3, templates, template parts, patterns, style variations) from the approved designs and wireframes
- Develop custom blocks (block.json, React, @wordpress/scripts) using the Block Bindings API and Interactivity API
- Set up an editor-friendly back end with synced and locked patterns, locked templates, restricted core blocks and custom block styles
- Configure custom post types, taxonomies and custom fields
- Build WebGL and scroll-driven animations (Three.js, OGL or raw WebGL, GLSL, GSAP / ScrollTrigger) that hold 60fps on mid-range mobile
- Optimize 3D assets (glTF, Draco/Meshopt, KTX2), lazy-load them and provide fallbacks for low-power devices, no-WebGL browsers and prefers-reduced-motion
- Meet Core Web Vitals targets (LCP under 2.5s, INP under 200ms, CLS under 0.1) and WCAG 2.1 AA
- Implement technical SEO: semantic HTML, schema, XML sitemaps and redirects
- Integrate HubSpot, GA4 and GTM
- Harden security, vet plugins and manage Git-based deployment across local, staging and production
- Migrate existing content to the new site
- Write technical documentation and train our team to edit the site

Requirements

- 4+ years professional WordPress development, including 2+ years building custom Full Site Editing block themes (theme.json v3, templates, template parts, patterns, style variations)
- Strong custom block development skills (block.json, React, @wordpress/scripts) with hands-on Block Bindings API and Interactivity API experience
- Experience building editor-friendly sites with synced and locked patterns, locked templates, restricted core blocks and custom block styles
- Solid knowledge of custom post types, taxonomies and custom fields
- 2+ years production WebGL experience (Three.js, OGL or raw WebGL), including GLSL shaders and GSAP / ScrollTrigger animation (live work required)
- Proven WebGL performance optimization: lazy-loading, 3D asset compression (glTF, Draco/Meshopt, KTX2), 60fps on mid-range mobile, and graceful fallbacks for low-power devices, no-WebGL browsers and prefers-reduced-motion
- Track record delivering responsive, cross-browser sites that meet Core Web Vitals (LCP under 2.5s, INP under 200ms, CLS under 0.1) and WCAG 2.1 AA
- Working knowledge of technical SEO (semantic HTML, schema, XML sitemaps, redirects) and integrating HubSpot, GA4 and GTM
- Experience with WordPress security hardening, plugin vetting, Git workflows and deployment across local, staging and production
- Experience migrating content between WordPress sites and producing explicit technical documentation and editor training
