About Westech Diesel

Westech Diesel Ltd. is a busy and growing automotive and heavy-duty repair shop serving customers throughout Vanderhoof and the surrounding area.

We are looking for a motivated, organized and customer-focused Service Writer to join our team. This is a fast-paced position at the centre of our daily shop operations. You will work closely with customers, technicians, management and suppliers to help keep repairs moving, customers informed and the shop schedule running efficiently.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who takes ownership of their work, stays organized under pressure and understands the importance of providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

- Greet customers and discuss their vehicle or equipment concerns
- Create accurate work orders and clearly document customer requests
- Schedule appointments and help coordinate the daily shop workload
- Communicate effectively between customers, technicians and management
- Prepare repair estimates and obtain customer authorization before work proceeds
- Provide customers with regular updates on repairs and expected completion timelines
- Source and order automotive and heavy-duty parts as required
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding parts availability, pricing and delivery
- Review completed work orders for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare invoices and clearly explain repairs and charges to customers
- Follow up with customers regarding recommended repairs and outstanding estimates
- Help ensure labour, parts and other charges are properly captured on work orders
- Maintain professional and consistent customer service
- Help keep the front office, repair schedule and overall shop workflow organized
- Assist management and technicians with day-to-day coordination as required

Qualifications & Skills





We are looking for someone who has:

- Solid communication and customer-service skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- The ability to prioritize and manage several jobs at once
- Confidence handling difficult customer conversations professionally
- Basic automotive or mechanical knowledge
- Good computer and data-entry skills
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- The ability to work effectively with technicians, management and suppliers
- A dependable and professional approach to work
- A valid driver's licence

Previous experience in service writing, automotive repair, heavy-duty equipment, parts or a related mechanical industry is considered an asset.

However, we are willing to consider the right person who has strong customer-service skills, mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
