Title: Static Security Guard
Employment Type: Full time
Pay Rate: $18.75/hour (Training Wage); $19.50 - $22.00/hour (Site Wage)
Schedule: Mornings, days, nights, and weekends (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts)

Site Overview

Serving diverse client locations throughout Nanaimo—including retail centers, event venues, and supportive housing facilities—our security teams maintain safety across Vancouver Island. These active environments require guards who are observant, proactive, and focused on providing exceptional customer service to residents, visitors, and site staff.

What You'll Be Doing

- Provide friendly, professional customer service to site visitors and members of the public.

- Conduct regular foot patrols to secure personnel, buildings, and equipment.

- Watch for safety hazards, security breaches, and emergency situations, contacting emergency responders when needed.

- De-escalate challenging situations calmly and manage crowd control or trespassers professionally.

- Provide first aid and initial medical assistance when necessary.

- Write clear, accurate daily activity reports, incident logs, and emergency reports.

- Communicate effectively with team members using two-way radios and computer software.

Must Haves

- Valid British Columbia Security Worker License.

- High School Diploma or GED.

- Legally eligible to work in Canada.

- Physical ability to walk and stand for extended periods during patrols.

- Strong communication and customer service skills.

Nice-to-Haves

- Valid Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 certification or higher.

- Working knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
