These include wet and dry vacuum trucks, hydro-vac units, chemical flushing units, high-pressure pumps, and hydro-demolition robotics. We service the heavy industrial, mill, mining, and infrastructure industries.

Position Summary
Walco Industries is looking for an experienced Hydro-Vac Supervisor to lead our hydro-excavation and vacuum truck work on Vancouver Island, and to help us grow our local customer base. The role is split between the field and the office. You'll supervise crews and equipment on site and make sure jobs are done safely and done right. You'll also get out and meet contractors, municipalities, utilities, and industrial clients to bring in new work.This role suits someone who knows hydro-vac work inside and out, likes dealing with people, and wants a hand in building the business on the Island. It's based out of Campbell River office. You'll travel across the Island and may work overtime, night shifts, and projects.

Key Responsibilities

Field Supervision

- Supervise hydro-excavation and vacuum truck crews on job sites
- Plan and schedule jobs, crews, and equipment
- Make sure work follows site safety procedures, permits, JHAs, and Ground Disturbance requirements
- Run tailgate meetings and set a strong example on safety
- Operate hydro-vac and vacuum trucks as needed
- Act as the main contact for clients on site
- Keep an eye on equipment condition, inspections, and maintenance requirements.
- Complete daily logs, timesheets, tickets, and job documentation
- Train and mentor newer operators

Sales & Business Development

- Find and follow up on new work across Vancouver Island
- Build relationships with general contractors, civil and utility contractors, municipalities, First Nations, and industrial sites
- Visit sites, assess the scope of work, and help put together quotes and bids




- Follow up on quotes and keep in touch with existing customers
- Track leads and report on local market activity to management
- Work with the Business Development Manager for ads and marketing.

Required Qualifications

- Valid Unrestricted Class 1 or 3 Driver's License (air endorsement required)
- [3+] years of hydro-excavation or vacuum truck experience
- Previous lead hand, foreman, or supervisory experience
- Ground Disturbance certification (asset)
- Strong understanding of industrial and excavation safety practices
- Good communication skills and comfortable dealing with customers
- Basic computer skills (email, quotes, reports)
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and shutdown schedules
- Must be clean shaven
- Must have reliable transportation
- Pre-hire drug and alcohol testing is required

Preferred Qualifications

- Existing contacts in the Vancouver Island construction, municipal, or industrial market
- Sales, estimating, or quoting experience
- Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, First Aid, WHMIS, and TDG certifications
- Experience with daylighting, utility locating, and BC One Call procedures
