Aqua S.T.A.R. has run swim lessons and lifeguard services across Metro Vancouver for nine years. We are adding aquatic rehabilitation: one-to-one sessions in clients' own pools, in their building or at home. We handle the booking, the payment and the travel math. You bring your registration and your clinical judgment.

What a session looks like

- 45 minutes, one client, their own pool

- You choose the days and hours you offer. One session a week or ten.

- Keep any other work or clinic hours. No exclusivity, no quota.

- Your own clinical records, your own clinical decisions.

Pay

- Physiotherapists: $91.00 to $97.50 per 45-minute session (65 percent of the session fee)

- Kinesiologists: $54.00 to $57.00 per 45-minute session (60 percent of the session fee)

- Travel on top, at ICBC's rates, one way, up to 60 minutes per trip: physiotherapists $0.71 per minute, kinesiologists $0.65 per minute, plus $0.66 per km for both

- Paid every two weeks by direct deposit

- The hourly range shown ($45 to $72) is an estimate of earnings per hour of your time, including the drive, for clients within about 20 to 30 minutes. Kinesiologists sit at the lower end, physiotherapists at the upper end. Back-to-back clients in the same building earn more.





Good fit if you

- Are registered with CHCPBC (physiotherapists) or a member of BCAK or ATABC (kinesiologists)

- Hold $2M professional liability insurance in your own name

- Have current CPR / First Aid

- Have a way to get to clients around Metro Vancouver

- Aquatic therapy training (CARI or ATRI) is welcome, not required. Comfortable working in water is enough to start.

Straight talk

- We are at the start of this service. Our ICBC provider application goes in after our first physiotherapist signs. Until then, sessions are private-pay.

- Kinesiologists: ICBC-funded work needs a physiotherapist overseeing it, so kinesiology sessions are private-pay until a physiotherapist has signed and ICBC has approved us.

- Each practitioner needs a business licence from their home city before the first session.

- The first physiotherapist shapes the service with us and, once ICBC approves us, can take the paid role of overseeing kinesiology sessions.
