Job Summary

Windsor Orthopedic Surgical Centre is seeking a skilled and compassionate PACU Registered Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will provide safe, efficient, patient‑focused post‑anesthesia care for same‑day hip and knee replacement procedures, supporting patients as they recover and return home the same day.

Responsibilities

- Provide immediate post‑operative nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following same‑day hip and knee replacement procedures.
- Continuously monitor vital signs, airway patency, level of consciousness, pain, and overall stability.
- Assess for post‑anesthesia complications such as respiratory distress, hemodynamic changes, nausea/vomiting, or adverse reactions.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, analgesics, and other treatments as ordered.
- Support airway management, oxygen therapy, and emergency interventions when required.
- Provide clear patient and family education regarding recovery expectations, discharge instructions, and pain management.
- Prepare patients for safe discharge or transfer, ensuring continuity of care and thorough documentation.
- Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, RPNs,



and the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and uphold infection‑prevention and safety standards within the PACU environment.

Qualifications

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario in valuable standing.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Recent PACU, critical care, or acute care experience within the last 3 years preferred.
- Experience with orthopedic or post‑operative patient care is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, clinical assessment, organization, and critical‑thinking skills.
