Independent Rebuild Specialist is looking for experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians to join our growing field service team supporting major oil sands and mining operations in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

We specialize in Caterpillar engine rebuilds, major component repairs, diagnostics, and field service support. Our technicians work on some of the largest mining equipment in the industry, including haul trucks, dozers, loaders, and other heavy machinery.

Our technicians work on all aspects of heavy equipment, including engines, transmissions, torque converters, hydraulics, electrical systems, undercarriage, and major mechanical components.

We're looking for skilled, dependable technicians who know their way around heavy equipment, enjoy troubleshooting, and take pride in getting the job done right.

This is a hands-on, physically demanding field position. Our technicians work outdoors year-round in Northern Alberta, from extreme winter temperatures and snow to summer heat, rain, and muddy conditions.

What You'll Be Doing

- Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Caterpillar mining equipment, including haul trucks, dozers, loaders, and other heavy machinery.
- Perform repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, torque converters, differentials, final drives, and other major components.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, steering, braking, suspension, and automatic lubrication systems.
- Complete engine swaps, component replacements, rebuilds, and major mechanical repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
- Use CAT ET, SIS, and other diagnostic tools to identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, leaks, and potential mechanical failures.
- Complete accurate service reports, inspection sheets, and required maintenance documentation.
- Work independently in the field and alongside other experienced technicians.
- Follow all company and site safety procedures while maintaining a clean and protected work environment.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for well-rounded Heavy Equipment Technicians who are confident working on the entire machine, not just one component.

Qualifications & Experience

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to complete all required site orientations, training, and safety certifications.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position involves physically demanding work in active mining environments. Applicants must be capable of safely performing the essential duties of the position, with reasonable accommodation where required.

- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward or confined spaces.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, rain, heat, wind, and muddy conditions.
