About Us
Ntensional Inc. is a structural engineering firm based in Bracebridge, Ontario, specializing in residential and light commercial construction. We provide high-quality, practical structural design and problem-solving for a variety of builds, from custom waterfront homes to complex retrofits. We are looking for a dedicated, experienced EIT, or Engineering Technologist to join our growing team.
P.Eng Structural Engineers are welcome to apply, compensation may be adjusted to suit experience.
The Role
We are seeking a versatile engineering professional who thrives on solving real-world construction challenges. In this role, you will be heavily involved in the structural design and drafting of residential and light commercial projects. You will work closely with our team to translate architectural concepts into structurally sound, permit-ready engineering drawings while navigating site-specific constraints.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and refine structural engineering drawings and details using AutoCAD.
Perform structural analysis and load calculations for wood-frame, steel, and concrete structures (gravity and lateral loads) in accordance with the Ontario Building Code (OBC).
Develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions for complex residential framing, structural retrofits, and foundation designs.
Collaborate directly with the principal engineers, building designers, and field contractors to ensure designs are constructible and meet all regulatory requirements.
Conduct site reviews or field measurements as required in Muskoka and surrounding areas to assess existing conditions and verify construction compliance.
Qualifications
Education & Credentials: Eligible for registration as a P.Eng. with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), OR an Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with strong, demonstrated experience in structural design.
Experience: Proven background in residential structural engineering and light commercial projects.
Technical Skills: High proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory. Familiarity with 3D modeling, vectorization, or structural analysis software is a strong asset.
Code Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (specifically Part 4 and Part 9), applicable CSA codes for design of wood, concrete and steel structures.
Problem Solving: A strong aptitude for engineering problem-solving, with the ability to conceptualize framing layouts and structural connections.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members, contractors, and municipal officials.
Mobility: Must have reliable transportation to work. This is NOT a work from home position.
