Forklift Operator Sit-Down Counterbalance

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Forklift Operator with sit-down counterbalance experience to join our warehouse team.

In this role, you will be responsible for loading and unloading trucks, replenishing inventory, staging outbound shipments, and supporting day-to-day warehouse operations.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment both inside the warehouse and outdoors when required.

Key Responsibilities

+ Safely operate a sit-down counterbalance forklift to support warehouse and yard operations.
+ Complete and document daily forklift inspections before equipment use.
+ Load and unload inbound and outbound trailers accurately and efficiently.
+ Pick, stack, wrap, and stage products for shipment while maintaining quality standards.
+ Utilize RF scanners and warehouse management systems to receive, locate, and replenish inventory.
+ Move, organize, and restock materials throughout the warehouse.
+ Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S housekeeping standards.
+ Report equipment concerns, safety hazards, and environmental issues promptly.
+ Meet established productivity, quality, and safety goals.
+ Assist with order picking and other warehouse duties as required.
+ Operate larger yard forklifts when trained and authorized.
+ Work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities.

Required Qualifications

+ Valid sit-down counterbalance forklift certification.
+ Minimum 1 year of sit-down counterbalance forklift operating experience.
+ Strong understanding of safe forklift operating procedures.
+ Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory and shipments.
+ Ability to perform physical work, including standing, walking, and moving throughout the shift.
+ Comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
+ Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Reach truck certification and operating experience.
+ Experience using RF scanners and warehouse management systems.
+ Previous order-picking experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
+ Familiarity with 5S, housekeeping, and continuous improvement practices.
+ Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.
+ Ability to pass a background check, if required.

Work Environment

+ Monday to Friday schedule, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM .
+ Contract position running through the end of the year.
+ Primarily warehouse-based with occasional outdoor work in the yard.
+ Fast-paced environment that requires multitasking and adaptability.
+ Regular use of forklifts, RF scanners, and warehouse equipment.
+ Physical role involving frequent standing, walking, lifting, and material handling.
+ Safety-focused facility that operates under 5S workplace organization standards.

PPE Requirements

+ CSA-approved safety-toe work boots (required).
+ Weather-appropriate outdoor clothing recommended for yard work.

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Abbotsford, BC.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.81 - $25.81/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
