Custom Metal Fabrication | Calgary AB

Dura Stainless is looking for a practical, detail-oriented SolidWorks draftsperson to join our custom metal fabrication shop. We need someone who can turn customer sketches, architectural drawings and field measurements into accurate drawings our fabricators can build from.

Our projects include custom stainless steel and sheet metal work, railings, architectural metalwork and commercial fabrication. The work varies from job to job and requires sound judgment, clear communication and attention to fit and finish.

What you will do

· Create SolidWorks models, assemblies and detailed fabrication drawings.

· Develop sheet metal parts, flat patterns and DXF files for cutting.

· Prepare bills of materials, cut lists and assembly details.

· Detail bends, welds, connections, tolerances and finishes.

· Work directly with the shop to confirm practical fabrication and assembly methods.

· Identify missing dimensions, fit issues and drawing conflicts before production.

· Maintain drawing revisions and incorporate customer and shop feedback.

· Assist with field measurements and site coordination when required.

What we are looking for

· Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, including sheet metal, weldments, assemblies and drawing creation.





· Experience drafting for a custom metal fabrication or sheet metal shop.

· An understanding of cutting, bending, welding and assembly processes.

· Ability to read architectural drawings and interpret sketches and field measurements.

· Careful attention to dimensions, material thicknesses, bend allowances and clearances.

· Ability to manage several jobs and communicate clearly with fabricators and project staff.

· A practical approach to solving problems and producing clear, complete shop drawings.

Experience with stainless steel fabrication, railings, architectural metalwork or commercial kitchen equipment would be an asset. A drafting or engineering technology diploma is helpful; relevant hands-on experience is also valued.
