Commercial Charter Manager

I’m recruiting for a growing Canadian marine company seeking a Commercial Charter Manager to oversee vessel charter projects from contract award through to completion.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you’ll take the lead on charter project execution, acting as the main point of contact for clients and coordinating with internal commercial teams, operations, and vessel crews.

You’ll help ensure projects are delivered as promised, client expectations are managed, and commercial objectives are met. You’ll also contribute to future bids and proposals by providing practical insight into pricing, project risks, scheduling, and lessons learned.

This role would suit someone with a background in marine operations, vessel chartering, offshore logistics, or complex project and service delivery who is comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage charter projects from contract award through to completion, ensuring delivery aligns with client expectations and agreed scope.
- Serve as the primary client contact throughout project execution, providing updates and managing changing priorities.
- Coordinate with operations teams, vessel crews, and internal stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
- Contribute to bids and proposals by assessing project feasibility, vessel suitability, scheduling, operational risks,



and pricing assumptions.
- Monitor project performance against commercial targets, including revenue, margins, timelines, and client satisfaction.
- Identify scope changes, risks, and opportunities for change orders.
- Capture lessons learned and provide feedback to improve future pricing, project planning, and commercial processes.
- Support problem-solving and escalate issues as needed to maintain project performance.

What We’re Looking For

- 5–10+ years of experience in marine operations, vessel chartering, offshore logistics, or a similar project or service delivery environment.
- Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness, including an understanding of project scope, pricing, risk, and financial performance.
- Experience coordinating multiple teams and priorities in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- A high level of accountability, with the ability to work independently and influence outcomes without direct authority.
- Experience using CRM or project management systems, along with Microsoft Office 365 and other planning tools.
