We’re looking for a dependable, hands-on individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Locksmith / Shop Assistant. This part time (+/- 20hrs per week) role offers training, mentorship, and the prospect to grow into a skilled trade.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist walk-in customers with key cutting, running the register, answering phones / email, lock pinning and assisting the shop manager.
- Use hand tools to rekey locks, duplicate keys, and assemble hardware (training provided)
- Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and stock levels
- Process transactions using the point-of-sale system
- Support senior locksmiths on service calls and installations as needed
- Learn locksmithing skills through on-the-job training
What We’re Looking For
- Reliability is essential – consistently showing up on time, ready to work and eager to learn is the foundation of success in this role, those who cannot commit to the job need not apply.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- G Drivers License and clean driving record.
- Experience with hand tools, small power tools and proven aptitude for using them in home or professional projects.
- Mechanical ability, problem-solving skills, and eagerness to learn
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Good to Have / Assets
While not required, the following skills and experience would be considered strong assets:
- Troubleshooting skills and general computer knowledge
- Ability to read and follow technical diagrams or manuals
- Customer service or retail sales experience
- Any previous trade, mechanical, or construction experience
