Saffron Hill is preparing to open Saffron Hill Ristorante, The Grand Café, and Saffron Hill Market! Named after London's historic Little Italy, Saffron Hill celebrates the spirit of Italian culture: generous hospitality, great company, and moments worth lingering over. We believe exceptional dining begins with exceptional ingredients, thoughtful service, and the simple pleasure of gathering around the table.
We're bringing together passionate professionals who take pride in exceptional service, genuine connections, and creating memorable experiences for every guest. If you're looking to grow your career in a collaborative, hospitality-driven environment, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
At Saffron Hill, exceptional service begins with making people feel welcome. As a Server, you will bring the warmth and generosity of Italian hospitality to life, connecting Guests with thoughtfully prepared cuisine, distinctive wines, and the Nova Scotia ingredients and producers featured on our menu. Through confident recommendations, attentive pacing, and thoughtful gestures, you will create an experience that feels polished, personal, and relaxed. Working closely with our Culinary and Front-of-House teams, you will help make every Guest feel valued and eager to return.
What You'll Do
- Build a warm connection from the first greeting to the final farewell, adapting your approach to each table’s preferences, pace, and occasion.
- Guide guests through our offerings with an understanding of Italian culinary traditions, ingredients, preparation methods, and the local producers represented on our menu.
- Suggest dishes, wines, aperitivi, and non-alcoholic beverages that complement one another and reflect each Guest’s tastes.
- Follow restaurant standards for table settings, order taking, coursing, wine presentation, clearing, and table maintenance,
with attention to timing and detail.
- Anticipate without intruding. Notice when Guests need guidance, assistance, or space, balancing attentive service with discretion and respect for their conversation.
- Protect Guest safety. Ask about allergies and dietary requirements, accurately record and communicate them through the approved process, and confirm suitable options with Culinary and Bar teams. Seek clarification whenever information is uncertain and verify dishes before serving.
- Coordinate with Culinary and Front-of-House Teams to manage pacing, communicate changes, and deliver complete, accurate orders.
- Follow Nova Scotia liquor requirements, licence conditions, and restaurant policies, including age verification, monitoring consumption, refusing service when required, and involving a Leader when support is needed.
- Listen to Guest concerns, take appropriate action within your role, and involve leadership promptly to support a thoughtful resolution.
- Enter orders, communicate modifications, present accurate bills, and process payments in accordance with point-of-sale and cash-handling procedures.
- Take pride in the dining room. Complete opening and closing duties and maintain clean, organized, and inviting tables, service stations, and guest-facing areas.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully, assist Team Members during busy periods, and contribute to a calm, collaborative service environment.
- Follow all Occupational Health & Safety policies to support a safe and inclusive workplace.
- Identify and report potential hazards or concerns in a timely and responsible manner.
- Participate in training, service briefings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Treat all Guests and Team Members with dignity, respect, and professionalism at all times.
