About Mate Gauge
Mate Gauge is a leader in laser-based thickness monitoring systems used in manufacturing facilities around the world. We're deploying non-contact laser technology that helps manufacturers reduce waste, improve product quality, and lower environmental impact.
Our systems combine:
- Smart, robust sensors
- Seamless production line and data integration
- Production-tested hardware
- Thoughtful, intuitive software
We work closely together, take pride in the quality of what we build, and support each other through the details that matter. If you're looking to develop your skills, contribute to meaningful work, and see the systems you build and install run in plants around the world, this could be a outstanding fit.
Why Join Us?
You'll be joining a steady, growing company with meaningful products and a clear purpose. As a Field Service Technician, you'll work on our systems from start to finish. You'll help build, test and ship them in Kanata, then install and support them at customer plants in battery, steel, building products and wood manufacturing.
Our customers work with people who know the equipment, not sales reps, from the first conversation through install and support. We're hiring a technician who wants to be that person: the one who knows the system because they helped build it, and who earns the customer's trust on the plant floor.
What You'll Do
Months 1-3: Learn the systems inside and out
- Hands-on training with MG1/MG3/MG5/MGX gauges: assembly, setup, alignment, calibration and maintenance
- Shadow a colleague providing remote customer support, then travel with a senior team member to a customer installation
Months 3-12: In the field
- Installation & service - install, align, calibrate and hand over systems at customer plants, including operator training and annual Go-Flat-Out health checks
- Customer support - first line of remote support by phone, video and remote login; diagnose faults on site and escalate application and software issues to our engineering team
- Service reports - complete reports promptly and keep customer and system records current
Months 3-12: In Kanata
- Production - assist with electromechanical assembly, wiring and cable builds
- Integration & testing - configure, test and calibrate systems to confirm they meet specification before shipment
- Parts & procurement - place parts orders and receive incoming materials in our ERP system
- Shipping - package and prepare systems for shipment
Your Background
- Hands-on Experience: building, installing or servicing electromechanical equipment, including motors, sensors and wiring, and reading assembly and electrical drawings
- Electronic Test and Measurement Equipment: comfortable working with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and calibration tools
- Windows Software and Networking: Windows-based software installation, device drivers, and basic networking (IP addresses, Ethernet)
- ERP and Inventory: experience with an ERP or inventory system is an asset. We use Odoo.
- Plant Floor Ready: comfortable working around production equipment in PPE; able to lift objects up to 30 kg
- Education: Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electronics, Electromechanical, or Instrumentation Engineering Technician or Technology, or similar
- Business Travel: about 15% of the time at customer facilities. Some travel may be outside of North America. Must have a valid Canadian passport and be eligible to travel without restriction.
- Driver's License: a valid license for vehicle rentals, as needed
Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
