ABOUT THE ROLE

Shanaya’s Driving School is a growing, ICBC-licensed driving school serving Greater Victoria and the Westshore.

We are looking for dedicated, patient, and professional Driving Instructors to join our team on a freelance basis.

This opportunity is ideal for licensed instructors who enjoy teaching, value flexibility, and want to focus on helping students become protected and confident drivers.

Our team coordinates student bookings and administrative support, allowing instructors to concentrate primarily on delivering quality driving lessons.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Conduct one-on-one driving lessons tailored to each student's experience and learning needs.
- Teach defensive driving, traffic rules, parking, vehicle control, and safe driving techniques.
- Prepare students for ICBC Class 5 and Class 7 road tests.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate lesson records and student evaluations.
- Ensure lessons comply with ICBC regulations and road safety requirements.
- Create a patient, professional, and encouraging learning environment.

REQUIREMENTS

- Valid ICBC Driver Training Instructor Licence with appropriate Class 5/7 practical authorization (mandatory).
- Valid BC driver's licence with an acceptable driving record.
- Access to a properly equipped, inspected, and insured training vehicle that meets ICBC requirements.
- Strong communication and teaching skills.
- Patient, reliable, and professional attitude.
- Ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles.
- Knowledge of BC traffic laws and ICBC road test requirements.
- Availability for scheduled lessons, including some evenings or weekends when possible.
- Previous driving instruction experience is an asset.

COMPENSATION & PROFIT SHARING

⁠ ⁠Compensation range: $20–$30 per hour.

⁠ ⁠Any profit-sharing arrangement will be governed by Shanaya’s Driving School's applicable policies and terms and conditions, as outlined in the written independent contractor agreement.

⁠ ⁠Profit-sharing eligibility, calculation, and payment arrangements will be communicated to successful candidates before entering into an agreement.

⁠ ⁠Weekly assignments and earnings may vary based on student demand, availability, and agreed working arrangements.
