Job Summary:

We are hiring a Junior UX/UI Designer to work on our apps. Your main responsibility will be UX and UI design for our mobile (iOS and Android) and desktop apps, including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and final interface designs for developers to build from. You will also work on website UX from time to time. You will report to the Product & Brand Design Manager and work closely with our product and development teams. Our apps are used by millions of people in countries where the Internet is censored, so the role requires clear, usable design for an international audience.

Key Responsibilities:

App Design (Mobile and Desktop):

- Design user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and final interfaces for our iOS, Android, and desktop apps.
- Design for an international audience, including right-to-left languages and text that changes length considerably in translation (From English to German for example).
- Use our design system and component library so the apps stay consistent.
- Prepare designs and specs for developer handoff,



and review builds to check they match the designs.

Website UX:

- Support website UX as needed, working on page layouts and user flows.

Testing and Iteration:

- Help run usability tests and review user feedback to find problems in the apps.
- Revise designs based on test results and feedback from the design, product, and development teams.

Collaboration:

- Work with the Product & Brand Design Manager to understand requirements and priorities.
- Work with developers during builds to answer questions and solve design issues.
- Present your work and explain your design decisions in design reviews.

Qualifications & Skills:

Experience and Education:

- 1+ years of experience designing interfaces for mobile or desktop apps.
- A portfolio that shows app design work, including user flows and final screens.
- A degree, diploma, or graduate certificate in Interaction Design, Digital Experience Design, UX Design, Graphic Design, or Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent experience.

Skills:

- Strong visual design skills, including layout, typography, color, and hierarchy.
- Working knowledge of UX fundamentals: information architecture, interaction design, and usability.
- Proficiency in Figma, including components, auto layout, and prototyping.
- Familiarity with iOS and Android design guidelines.
- Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to take feedback and apply it.
- Ability to manage several tasks at once and meet deadlines.

Nice to have:

- Experience designing for multiple languages, including right-to-left languages such as Arabic and Persian.
- Experience working with a design system or component library.
- Experience running usability tests.
- Interest in privacy, security, or Internet freedom.
