The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Part-Time Awake Overnight Child & Youth Workers to join our Live-In Treatment Programs in the Oshawa area.

This position is ideal for compassionate, dependable individuals who enjoy working with children and youth and are comfortable providing support and supervision during overnight hours.

Schedule: Part-time hours during the week and every other weekend. Shifts may include:

- Weeknights: 10:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m.
- Every Other Weekend: 10:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m. or 9:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m.

Shift times and schedules vary based on program needs. Staff must remain awake and alert throughout their scheduled shifts.

The Role

As an Awake Overnight Child & Youth Worker, you will play an important role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and emotional security of children and youth residing in our live-in treatment programs.

You will provide overnight supervision, respond to individual needs, and help maintain a calm, structured, and therapeutic environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

- Maintain active overnight supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of children and youth.
- Respond appropriately to overnight needs, behavioural challenges, and crisis situations.
- Provide therapeutic support using trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches.
- Implement individualized treatment plans, safety plans, and behavioural support strategies.
- Complete regular safety and wellness checks in accordance with program procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment, including completing assigned overnight household responsibilities.
- Support children and youth with evening and morning routines, as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including overnight observations, incidents, and shift reports using our electronic database.
- Communicate relevant information to incoming staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Work collaboratively with the treatment team to support positive outcomes for children and youth.

What We're Looking For

- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Services, or a related field.
- Experience supporting vulnerable children and youth with mental health, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Solid understanding of trauma-informed care and anti-oppressive practices.
- Ability to remain awake, alert, and responsive throughout overnight shifts.
- Sound judgment, strong crisis intervention skills, and the ability to respond calmly in challenging situations.
- Ability to work independently while remaining a dependable and team-oriented member of the team.
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Clear Criminal Background Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening and Broad Sector Check.
