The City of Martensville has an opening for a Permanent Full Time Bylaw Enforcement Officer.

Reporting to the Fire Chief, this position is responsible for the professional, fair and consistent enforcement of municipal bylaws of the City of Martensville, pertinent sections of The Cities Act, 2002 and The Planning and Development Act, 2007, as well as applicable Federal and Provincial legislation.

The position independently receives and investigates complaints, conducts inspections and investigations, assesses evidence and circumstances, determines appropriate compliance and enforcement action and manages files through to resolution, including matters proceeding through the Provincial Bylaw Court and other applicable hearing or appeal processes.

This is a stand-alone enforcement position requiring specialized knowledge, accountability, discretion, independence and a high degree of qualified judgment. The incumbent must be capable of assessing complex and potentially contentious situations, applying legislation and City bylaws consistently and fairly, determining proportionate enforcement responses and recognizing when consultation, escalation or involvement of another agency is required.

As a highly visible representative of the City,



the incumbent's conduct, communication, judgment and interactions with the public directly influence public confidence in the City. The position therefore requires a consistently high standard of professionalism, diplomacy, objectivity, integrity and interpersonal skill in order to protect and uphold the City's reputation and credibility.

Rate of Pay: As per the Local CUPE Agreement.
