Windsor Orthopedic Surgical Centre is seeking a dedicated and compassionate PACU Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team. The successful candidate will support safe, efficient, patient‑focused post‑anesthesia care for same‑day hip and knee replacement procedures, helping patients recover and return home the same day.

Responsibilities

- Provide post‑operative nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following same‑day hip and knee replacement procedures, within RPN scope of practice.
- Monitor vital signs, airway patency, pain levels, mobility readiness, and overall stability.
- Identify and promptly report post‑anesthesia concerns such as nausea, dizziness, respiratory changes, or unexpected pain.
- Administer medications and treatments as authorized, including analgesics, antiemetics, and IV therapy (if IV‑certified).
- Support patient comfort, safety, and early mobilization as appropriate.
- Provide clear patient and family education regarding recovery expectations, discharge instructions, and pain management.
- Assist with patient discharge preparation, ensuring documentation is complete and care transitions are smooth.
- Collaborate closely with PACU RNs,



anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, timely charting and uphold infection‑prevention and safety standards in the PACU environment.

Qualifications

- Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS considered an asset.
- Recent PACU, surgical, acute care, or orthopedic experience preferred.
- IV therapy certification required for roles involving IV medication administration.
- Strong communication, assessment, organization, and teamwork skills.
