Job Overview

We are seeking a licensed, customer-focused Optician to help patients find eyewear that meets their vision needs, prescription requirements, and personal preferences. The Licensed Optician will guide patients through frame and lens selection, explain product options, and coordinate with the clinical and optical teams to support an accurate, welcoming experience from fitting through dispensing.

Responsibilities

- Assist patients with selecting frames, lenses, and optical products based on prescriptions, lifestyle needs, fit, and preferences.
- Interpret and explain prescriptions and lens options using clear, patient-friendly language.
- Take and verify measurements, adjust and fit eyewear, and ensure finished glasses meet prescription and comfort requirements.
- Coordinate orders, repairs, and adjustments with optical laboratories and vendors; inspect completed eyewear for accuracy and quality.
- Maintain accurate patient records and document relevant information in the electronic health record or practice management system.
- Support retail sales through attentive service, product knowledge, and appropriate recommendations.
- Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic staff, and colleagues to provide coordinated patient care.
- Maintain organized displays, inventory, and a clean, qualified optical area.
- Follow applicable licensing requirements, privacy practices, and workplace procedures.
- Contribute to a positive team environment and, where applicable, assist with day-to-day retail operations.

Skills

- Current optician license required, with credentials appropriate to the location of practice.
- Optical experience, including knowledge of eyewear, lenses, prescriptions, fitting, and adjustments.
- Strong customer service, communication, and retail sales skills; prior sales experience is beneficial.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and patient documentation.
- Experience with optical laboratory processes or other laboratory experience is a plus.
- Experience using any optical softwar.
- Retail management experience is a plus, particularly for candidates supporting store operations or team coordination.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively while providing respectful, patient-centered service.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
