Responsibilities & Duties

- Deliver engaging Reading and Writing instruction tailored to students' academic levels and learning needs.
- Prepare lesson materials, reading activities, discussion questions, and homework assignments.
- Assess student work and provide constructive feedback to improve reading comprehension, writing skills, and critical thinking.
- Monitor student progress and prepare daily, monthly, and novel-based reports.
- Maintain effective classroom management and foster a positive learning environment.
- Communicate with parents and administrative staff regarding student progress and instructional needs.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and support student learning through individualized instruction.





Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check is required as a condition of employment; the cost of the check will be covered by the organization.
- Solid knowledge of assigned subject area(s), with the ability to explain concepts clearly, accurately, and at an appropriate level for each student.
- Previous educational experience, especially with SAT, AP, or IB classes is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- A patient, professional, and growth-oriented approach to instruction.

Work Hours

This is a part time position with 8 tutoring hours per week for one semester at a time. Classes are scheduled Tuesday/Friday from 4-8 pm, with the possibility of more hours available in the upcoming semester.

Location

In-person at our North Shore campus (889 Harbourside Drive, North Vancouver).

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
