Fontaine Site Services
Vancouver
Fontaine Site Services Inc. is a growing civil construction contractor specializing in excavation, earthworks, underground utilities, roadworks, and civil infrastructure throughout Greater Vancouver and the Sea-to-Sky corridor.
We are looking for a reliable, proactive, and safety-conscious Construction Delivery Driver / Equipment & Materials Runner to support our active job sites and equipment fleet.
This is not a standard courier position. You will be transporting construction equipment and materials, towing trailers, securing loads, picking up parts and supplies, and working around active construction sites.
We are looking for someone who can think ahead, take initiative, communicate well, and get things done.
What You'll Do
- Operate a one-ton pickup truck, with and without a trailer.
- Transport excavator buckets, compactors, pipe, tools, attachments, parts, equipment, and construction materials.
- Pick up and purchase pre-approved parts, materials, and supplies from construction suppliers and equipment dealers.
- Deliver equipment and materials between multiple active job sites.
- Safely hitch and unhitch trailers.
- Properly secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and other appropriate equipment.
- Load and unload tools, equipment, and materials as required.
- Keep track of receipts, purchase orders, delivery paperwork, and other documentation.
- Keep the truck, trailer, and associated equipment clean and organized.
- Complete basic vehicle and trailer inspections and report mechanical or safety concerns.
- Communicate with job-site supervisors and the Delivery Coordinator regarding pickups, deliveries, delays, and changing priorities.
- Respond quickly when job-site priorities change throughout the day.
What We're Looking For
- Valid B.C. driver's licence with the appropriate class/endorsement for the truck and trailer being operated.
- Acceptable driver's abstract and driving record suitable for company insurance.
- Experience driving a one-ton pickup truck and towing trailers.
- Strong trailer-backing and maneuvering skills.
- Experience with load securement and transporting heavy or awkward equipment.
- Comfortable working around excavators, loaders, trucks, and other heavy equipment.
- Comfortable entering and working around active construction sites.
- Able to safely perform physical work including lifting, carrying, loading, securing, and unloading construction tools and materials.
- Comfortable using a smartphone for navigation, calls/texts, photos, receipts, and job-related communication.
- General knowledge of construction materials, equipment, parts, and suppliers is an asset.
- Previous experience in construction, equipment rental, civil work, trucking, mechanics, construction supply, or a similar environment is a strong asset.
Communication & Attitude
Communication is one of the most important parts of this position.
We want someone with a go-for-it attitude who takes initiative, thinks ahead, and looks for solutions rather than waiting to be told every small step.
At the same time, you need to know when to stop and communicate before taking action—particularly when there is an unexpected cost, change in plan, safety concern, equipment issue, incorrect material, or decision that could affect a job.
The driver will receive instructions and priorities from our Delivery Coordinator throughout each shift and is expected to keep the coordinator updated as pickups, purchases, and deliveries are completed.
The right person will be able to work independently while understanding that good communication keeps our crews productive and our projects moving.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Overtime available and occasionally required.
- Occasional weekend work may be required.
- Most deliveries are in Surrey, Vancouver, UBC, and surrounding areas.
- Occasional trips throughout Greater Vancouver and the Sea-to-Sky corridor.
Compensation & Benefits
- $26.00–$32.00/hour, based on experience, driving qualifications, and construction knowledge.
- Annual performance bonus.
- Benefits package.
- Overtime opportunities.
- Company vehicle provided for work use.
- Full-time, year-round position.
- Opportunity to grow as our company and equipment fleet continue to expand.
Who Would Be a Positive Fit?
This position would suit someone who enjoys being on the road, working around construction equipment, solving problems, and having variety in their day.
You should be comfortable receiving a list of priorities, organizing your route, communicating with suppliers and job sites, securing equipment properly, and adjusting when priorities change.
If you're dependable, organized, mechanically inclined, comfortable towing trailers, and the type of person who likes to get things done, we'd like to hear from you.
