Join Mongrain’s growing field team in BC
Mongrain is a third-generation, family-owned company with more than 75 years of experience in the construction industry. Specializing in waterproofing, insulation, roofing, cladding, and fireproofing, we bring decades of technical knowledge and practical field experience to every project. As we expand into British Columbia through Mongrain Pacific Building Systems Inc., we are building a Vancouver team that combines the backing of an established company with the opportunity to help shape a growing local operation.
We are seeking a dependable Membrane Installer to help install and finish membrane systems on construction projects. The role involves working with a crew, using hand tools, and following project plans and safety procedures. Construction, carpentry, or handyman experience is helpful; training may be provided for candidates who are ready to learn.
Duties
Depending on your experience and the project, your work may include:
Install spray applied, torch applied and self adhesive water proofing membranes and air/vapour barriers on foundations, walls, and other specified surfaces.
Install rigid insulation, mineral-wool insulation, protection boards, and drainage membranes.
Prepare concrete, plywood, and metal substrates by cleaning surfaces, removing loose material, and identifying defects.
Apply compatible primers, adhesives, sealants, and mastics according to manufacturer instructions.
Complete membrane detailing at corners, joints, penetrations, openings, transitions, and terminations.
Measure, cut, fit, overlap, and roll membranes to achieve continuous adhesion and proper coverage.
Install termination bars, fasteners, washers, Z-bars, and associated components where included in the scope.
Assist with liquid- or spray-applied waterproofing systems where trained and authorized.
Read installation details and follow directions from the supervisor and project team.
Protect adjacent surfaces and completed work from damage or contamination.
Check installation quality and report unsuitable substrates, moisture, temperature concerns, or access problems before proceeding.
Handle materials safely and maintain tools, equipment, and an organized work area.
Follow site safety procedures and use the required PPE and fall-protection equipment.
Support daily coordination, planning and progress reporting.
