Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Canadian Data Center practice. This role will support the design and delivery of hyperscale, colocation, and other mission-critical facilities across North America. This is a newly created position.

The successful candidate will contribute to the design of resilient mechanical infrastructure while collaborating with experienced multidisciplinary Data Center teams across Canada, the U.S., and globally. This is an chance to develop specialized expertise in a rapidly growing sector while working on complex, high-performance facilities.

Responsibilities

- Design mechanical systems for data centers and mission-critical facilities, including HVAC, heat-rejection, chilled-water, hydronic, and critical cooling systems.
- Perform cooling-load calculations, equipment sizing, capacity planning, and other mechanical engineering analyses.
- Prepare mechanical plans, schematics, schedules, details, specifications, and supporting calculations.




- Apply applicable Canadian building, mechanical, energy, fire, and plumbing codes and requirements.
- Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, electrical, structural, civil, controls, fire protection, technology, and other disciplines.
- Support design criteria addressing reliability, redundancy, resiliency, maintainability, energy efficiency, and capacity.
- Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, quality reviews, and project coordination meetings.
- Support construction-phase services, including RFIs, submittal reviews, site observations, commissioning activities, and resolution of technical issues.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, utilities, and other project stakeholders.
- Perform work in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
