Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Landscape Construction Lead Hand to join our growing team in the Niagara Region. The ideal candidate will oversee on-site operations, ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, technical skills in landscape construction, and a commitment to teamwork.

This is not a general labour or entry-level role. You will be responsible for leading daily operations on residential and/or commercial landscape construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Responsibilities

- Lead and supervise a crew on landscape construction sites
- Read plans and execute projects accurately and efficiently
- Perform and oversee hardscape and landscape construction tasks, including: Grading and site preparation; Installation of interlock pavers, retaining walls, patios, walkways, and other hardscape features; Planting trees, shrubs, and sod; garden bed preparation; Installation of low-voltage lighting, water features, and drainage;
- Operation and maintenance of equipment such as skid steers, excavators, and compactors
- Ensure job sites are organized, clean, and safe
- Communicate clearly with management, crew members, and clients when needed




- Maintain productivity and quality standards
- Monitor project progress, track hours and materials, and assist with change orders or additional work as needed

Qualifications

- 3+ years in landscape construction
- Previous foreman or lead hand experience preferred
- Proven skills in hardscaping (interlock, stonework, retaining walls) and softscaping (planting, grading)
- Ability to read and interpret landscape plans and blueprints
- Valid Ontario G driver’s license with a clean driving abstract (DZ/AZ license an asset)
- Experience operating heavy equipment
- Strong knowledge of materials, tools, plants, and best practices in the Ontario landscape industry
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Physically fit and able to perform demanding manual labour, including lifting 50+ lbs repeatedly
- Attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
