Advance LEO-PNT signal processing at ÉTS in downtown Montreal, designing waveforms and positioning algorithms for the SAPPHIRE research project.
As a postdoctoral fellow, you will serve as a scientific anchor within a multidisciplinary team involving ÉTS, MDA Space, and Safran Trusted 4D. Your work will develop communication-navigation convergence for Aurora’s LEO satellite constellation. The project combines DVB-S2X, D2D, 5G/6G NTN interoperability, SDR testbeds, and hardware-in-the-loop validation. You will advance technologies toward TRL 5 while supporting GNSS-free PNT and emergency-management scenarios.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design timing-enhanced DVB-S2X waveforms and synchronized D2D data frames
- Develop Doppler, ToA, TDoA, FDoA, and PDoA algorithms
- Model oscillator drift and implement Kalman filtering
- Validate hybrid SDR receivers in laboratory conditions
- Coordinate work packages, mentor students, and prepare publications
Requirements:
- Ph.D. earned within five years in a related field
- Background in satellite navigation, communications, or estimation
- Hands-on SDR and experimental laboratory validation experience
- Programming proficiency in Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or C/C++
- Fluent French and solid scientific communication skills
Apply your LEO-PNT, SDR, synchronization, and estimation expertise to SAPPHIRE’s satellite communications research at ÉTS.
