About SetDM

This is a serious opportunity for growth as I'll be working one-to-one with you and sharing all the systems and marketing knowledge with you that I've learned from working with the mentor of Sam Ovens (founder of Skool.com $1b valuation). Our clients are some of the biggest creators on Instagram: Mino Lee (500k on IG), Luka Moves (1.5m on IG), Thomas Lee (320k on IG), and Luke Proof (1.6m on IG). And we will be working with them to develop the best AI sales messager on the market.

Our aim with SetDM is to become the sales layer of social media. We build AI-powered Instagram DM automation and lead conversion software for fitness coaches and online creators. Our AI setter qualifies leads, handles objections, and books sales calls with voice notes inside the DMs, so coaches can spend their time coaching instead of staring at their phone.

We’re a verified Meta Tech Partner running on the official Meta Graph API, not a no-code wrapper. Our clients have generated close to $1,500,000 through the platform, and our base sales prompts have driven roughly $5M in client revenue. SetDM is operated by Luma Ventures.

We’re a small, quick team that ships daily. Our core value is freedom: freedom for our clients from the grind of their businesses, and freedom for our team to work from anywhere, travel, and build world-class systems.

The Role

We’re hiring our first full-time Founding Engineer who also owns Customer Success. You’ll run the platform end to end and be the person who makes sure every client gets onboarded smoothly and actually wins with SetDM.

This is a rare hybrid. You’ll write the code, and you’ll also be on calls with clients, seeing exactly where they get stuck and fixing it at the source.

What Matters Most

I can vibe code. I’m not hiring someone to do what I already can. I’m looking for an engineer with real technical depth: someone who understands how systems work under the hood, can design a backend that holds up, and knows why the code works,

not just that it runs.

Use AI tools as much as you want. They make great engineers faster. But if you’re generating the entire codebase without understanding what’s in it, this won’t be the right fit. We ship a lot of features fast, and the whole point of this role is making sure the backend doesn’t explode while we do.

More than any specific skill, I’m looking for a growth mindset. Someone who’s hungry to learn, takes ownership when things break, and wants to get better every week.

What You’ll Do

Platform and Engineering

- Own and manage the SetDM platform: Meta Graph API integration, message throttling, qualification logic, and lead scoring
- Build and maintain the LLM-powered workflows that run our AI setter across every client account
- Ship analytics and reporting: per-stage funnel tracking, DM script A/B testing, call outcome tracking, and client-facing dashboards
- Build integrations with the tools our clients use (CRMs like GoHighLevel, call recording, payments)
- Monitor usage, cost, and reliability across accounts and keep everything fast and stable

Customer Success

- Own client onboarding from signed contract to a live, converting account
- Be the main point of contact for clients after onboarding, running check-ins and making sure they hit their goals
- Track client health (booked calls, show rates, close rates) and step in before problems turn into churn
- Troubleshoot issues fast and turn recurring problems into permanent product fixes
- Work alongside our setters, closers, and operators to understand what’s happening in the field

- Turn client feedback into product improvements you ship yourself

What We’re Looking For

- A deep understanding of how software works. Years of experience don’t matter. What matters is that you’ve written real code by hand and understand what you build, not just what an AI model hands you
- Strong backend fundamentals and comfort across the full stack
- Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs and AI agents
- Experience with third-party APIs, webhooks, and rate-limited systems (Meta/Instagram API experience is a huge plus)
- You genuinely enjoy helping clients succeed and are comfortable on calls with them
- Clear communicator on calls and in writing
- You move fast, own outcomes, and don’t need to be told what to do

Bonus Points

- Marketing knowledge: social media, content, funnels, or sales (not required, we’ll teach you)
- Experience in a customer-facing role (CSM, solutions engineer, support, or founder)
- You’ve built SaaS for creators, coaches, or the creator economy
- You’ve been an early employee at a startup before

Compensation

- ~$8,000/month
- Equity options

Why Join

- Founding role with real ownership over the product, the client experience, and technical direction
- Work directly with the founder and see your work hit revenue immediately
- Learn marketing and sales from a team that does it every day
- Fully remote with the freedom to work from anywhere
- A product that’s already working, with paying clients and real traction

How to Apply

Apply here with your resume and a short note on the most impressive thing you’ve built, plus a time you helped a customer or user succeed. Links to GitHub, a portfolio, or live projects are a strong plus.

Even if you don’t check every box or think you’re a long shot, apply anyway. Solid technical fundamentals and a willingness to learn matter more to me than a perfect resume. Worst case, you shot your shot.
