The first-year mandate is to establish the relationships, opportunity pipeline, delivery standards, technology, and operating structure required to support that growth. The minimum first-year financial expectation is $900,000 in account gross profit. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong understanding of the complete construction lifecycle, engineering and permitting, estimating, operations, customer support, and technology. The Program Manager must turn customer needs into well-defined, profitable projects and build a consistently exceptional customer experience. Construction, engineering & permitting Understand and lead the complete construction lifecycle: site assessment, feasibility, scope development, design, engineering, estimating, procurement, permitting, mobilization, construction, commissioning, inspections, and closeout. Understand how architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and other technical requirements interact with each project. Coordinate qualified engineers, consultants, contractors, and MTLI specialists to develop complete, coordinated drawing sets and execution plans. Identify applicable permits, approvals, inspections, certifications, and jurisdictional requirements early, assigning explicit ownership and incorporating them into budgets and schedules. Review drawings, specifications, constructability, site conditions, and operational constraints to identify gaps before work begins. Plan work within active facilities, accounting for shutdowns, access restrictions, production schedules, safety requirements, and customer operations. Ensure required professional reviews, sign-offs, inspections, as-built documents, warranties, and turnover packages are completed by the responsible parties. Customer ownership & support Serve as the primary program contact and take ownership of the customer experience from initial inquiry through post-project support. Understand the priorities of facility leadership, engineering, operations, procurement, and other customer stakeholders. Maintain proactive communication on quotations, decisions, schedules, progress, risks, and corrective actions. Conduct monthly customer feedback reviews and track improvements through to resolution. Establish clear response times, escalation paths, reporting standards, and ownership of customer requests.
Follow up after project completion to address deficiencies, confirm satisfaction, and identify future needs. National account growth Contact every enterprise site in Canada, introduce MTLI’s capabilities, and establish relationships with relevant decision-makers. Travel to facilities to understand their operations, assess requirements, and walk potential projects. Build a site-by-site account plan covering contacts, facility priorities, upcoming projects, capital plans, and opportunities across MTLI’s capabilities. Maintain a qualified pipeline and a clear growth plan toward $20 million+ in annual revenue. Bring MTLI’s experts into opportunities as required and ensure commitments are supported by available delivery capacity. Estimating, RFPs & project delivery Lead timely, accurate quotations with complete scopes, assumptions, exclusions, budgets, and schedules. Walk through RFPs with the customer, clarify requirements, identify missing information, and recommend improvements to scope, design, sequencing, and value. Develop estimates covering labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, engineering, permits, logistics, supervision, and project risks. Build and maintain project schedules, procurement plans, staffing requirements, and customer decision milestones. Direct assigned project teams and coordinate operations, dispatch, procurement, subcontractors, and technical specialists. Monitor safety, quality, progress, costs, gross profit, change orders, and billing readiness. Resolve issues early and maintain clear customer visibility into impacts and recovery plans. Technology & program development Understand how to use technology to improve customer service, quoting, planning, execution, and reporting. Build the program within MTLI’s CRM and ERP, maintaining accurate customer records, opportunities, quotations, project information, and financial forecasts. Establish dashboards showing active projects, milestones, open decisions, quotes, pipeline, customer feedback, and account performance. Develop repeatable templates and workflows for site assessments, estimating, handovers, project reporting, change orders, and closeout. Introduce practical automation that improves response times, reduces missed tasks, and gives customers reliable information.
Coordinate customer portals or shared reporting tools where appropriate, ensuring information is accurate and useful. Build a scalable program with clear responsibilities, service standards, documented processes, and capacity planning as volume increases.
