About Vivid Machines Our vision at Vivid Machines is to revolutionize agricultural production to help solve food security globally. Our initial focus is on helping fruit and vegetable farmers improve the quality and quantity of produce they can generate on existing acreage while also improving sustainability. To do this, we are building cutting-edge technology, including real-time vision systems and state-of-the-art AI models, all while delivering a seamless experience to farmers. As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you will own the software that sits between our cameras in the field and the people who rely on them: the applications our team and customers use to run the system and work with its data, the data model underneath, and the cloud services that move and deliver that data. You’ll be collaborating with our multidisciplinary team to create an amazing product and solve one of the world’s most significant problems. Do you love solving complex problems, and want to see your work applied in real life? We are looking for people who are self-directed and driven by a desire for excellence as much as by curiosity and a desire to learn by solving previously unsolvable problems. Join our extraordinary team. We value excellence, integrity, curiosity, passion, open-mindedness, and decisive action. We iterate quickly, deliver with purpose, and work with people who bring their unique strengths to the team. If you love supporting customers, the pace of a scaling startup, and want to make a global impact, we’d love to meet you. What you’ll be working on Our cameras ride through orchards on farm vehicles, detecting and measuring every tree and every fruit, and geolocating each one. The camera is only half of the product. The other half is everything that happens around it: configuring devices and scans, managing customers, orchards and blocks, tracking what was scanned and when, and getting accurate, per-customer data into the hands of growers, agronomists and partners who want it in their own tools. How you’ll make an impact
• Own the control app end to end. It is written in Rust, and you will own its features, UX, performance and reliability, from the backend to the screen. Make it the tool our field team reaches for first, not the one they work around.
• Own Prisma end to end. Same standard: a web application our users trust, that stays fast as the data grows, and that gets better every release.
• Own the data model behind them. Evolve schemas and migrations so they stay safe on live data, keep tenancy and ownership rules explicit, and make the next change easier than the last.
• Run and grow our services. Data processing, REST APIs, access management.
Keep them fast, cheap and boring, and know when a workload has outgrown its environment.
• Make auth and access control airtight. Users, roles and per-customer data isolation across both applications and every API. Assume every endpoint will be called by someone who shouldn’t.
• Build real integration surfaces for customers and partners. Versioned APIs, clear contracts, useful errors and documentation good enough that a partner’s engineer never needs to email us.
• Ship safely and often. CI/CD, infrastructure as code, isolated staging and production environments, and releases that can be rolled back without drama.
• Find problems before our customers do. This one matters most to us. Logs, metrics, alerts and traces on every service; error budgets you actually look at; a dashboard someone other than you will use. If a partner’s import fails at 2 a.m., we should know before they do.
• Connect the dots with the rest of the stack. Work with the embedded team on how devices sync scan data and status to the cloud, and with our data and ML side on how results flow into analysis, internal tools and customer reports. What we’re looking for We care much more about judgment across the whole stack than about matching a tool list. If you have owned a production application and the services behind it, and been the person who got paged when it broke, you will recognize this work.
• Several years building and running production applications, front end and back end.
• Strong, production-level TypeScript and modern web development.
• Strong, production-level Python. Many of our services are Python and will stay that way; you will work in both languages every week.
• Strong data modelling and query skills. You can design a schema, write the migration, profile a slow query, and explain why an index is or isn’t being used. You have shipped schema changes to live data without downtime.
• Real experience with serverless on AWS: Lambda, API Gateway, S3, IAM, and the cold starts, timeouts, payload limits and cost surprises that come with them.
• API design you’d be proud to hand to a customer. REST, pagination, versioning, idempotency, error contracts, and documentation.
• Security as a default, not a review step.
Authentication and authorization, multi-tenant data isolation, least-privilege IAM, and secrets that never touch a repo.
• A bias toward measurement and testing. You write the test that would have caught the bug, and you instrument things so the next person can debug them without asking you.
• A proactive disposition. You go looking for trouble. You check whether the thing you shipped is behaving, you follow the number that looks slightly wrong, and you treat a customer discovering a problem before you did as a miss worth fixing at the source. We would rather hire someone who raises an issue nobody asked about than someone who closes tickets cleanly.
• Self-direction. This is a small, distributed team; the person in this role will often be the one who decides what “done” means, and will be the main owner of these systems. Nice to have This is what our stack looks like today. You will not have all of it. Nobody does. Tell us which parts you have done and which parts you want to learn.
• Rust. Parts of our stack are written in rust, so experience with async Rust (Tokio), serde, and building UIs or services in Rust is a real plus. If you haven’t written Rust yet but want to, tell us.
• React and modern front-end tooling; building data-heavy internal and customer-facing UIs (tables, maps, charts).
• Geospatial data: GPS coordinates, maps, and orchard or field layouts.
• Working alongside embedded or hardware teams: device provisioning, fleet status, and data sync from devices that are often offline.
• Agriculture, robotics, IoT, or any other domain where software meets the physical world. Why Vivid Machines
• As an early employee of a VC-backed company, you will have the opportunity to help shape the company’s vision, culture and products.
• You can help build an amazing product in a company that plans to change the world.
