Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Brewer to join our production team for a 18-month fixed-term contract . This role is designed to cover a maternity leave of absence. While the primary term is 18 months, there is a potential for this role to transition into a permanent part-time or full time position at the end of the term, depending on production growth and staffing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Brewhouse Support : Assist the Head Brewer with wort production, milling, and mashing.
- Cellar Operations : Monitor fermentations, perform gravity checks, yeast harvesting, and dry-hopping.
- Packaging : Lead or assist in canning runs, bottling, and kegging operations.
- Sanitation (CIP) : Execute strict cleaning-in-place (CIP) protocols for tanks, lines, and floors to ensure product quality.
- Inventory & Logs : Maintain accurate production records and assist in inventory counts of hops, grain, and packaging materials.

Required Qualifications

- Brewing Experience : Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a commercial production brewery or a diploma in Brewing Science/Operations.
- Physical Stamina : Ability to lift 55-165 lbs (25-75 kg) and work in a wet, loud,



and temperature-variable environment.
- Safety First : Proficiency in handling brewery chemicals (caustic, acid, etc.) and following strict safety protocols.
- Mechanical Aptitude : Ability to troubleshoot basic pump or packaging line issues.
- Communication : Strong teamwork skills and a passion for the Ontario craft beer scene.

Position Details & "The Fine Print"

- Term : This is a fixed-term contract for approximately 18 months.
- Schedule : 35-40 hours per week, with occasional weekend or evening shifts as production requires.
- Training Start Date : To be determined
- Training period : On-site training will be provided for several weeks before the relief start date. This is a probationary period to determine your ability to work independently. Between the end of the probation period, and relief start date, you may be asked to work evenings and weekends as operations require.
- Relief Start Date : To be determined

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
