Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex water treatment design and fabrication projects. This role provides end-to-end accountability for project scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and client outcomes from contract award through commissioning and closeout. The Senior Project Manager serves as the primary link among clients, engineering, procurement, production, vendors, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders, providing strategic direction, resolving issues, and ensuring each system is technically sound, buildable, and aligned with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a portfolio of complex projects from contract award through commissioning and closeout, with full accountability for delivery and commercial outcomes.
- Establish project governance and develop integrated execution plans covering scope, schedule, budget, resourcing, procurement, quality, and communications.
- Direct cross-functional engineering, procurement, production, commissioning, and contractor teams while coordinating with clients and government agencies to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and industry requirements.
- Maintain executive-level oversight of project performance, forecasting, risks, issues, changes, and dependencies; implement timely mitigation and recovery plans.
- Provide senior oversight of equipment, raw material, and control-component procurement, approving sourcing strategies and resolving supply risks that could affect cost, quality, or milestones.
- Oversee contracts, change orders, permits, project controls, reporting, and records to protect commercial interests and support audit-ready project delivery.
- Oversee site execution and conduct strategic site reviews to verify compliance with safety, quality, contractual, and commissioning requirements.
- Serve as the senior point of contact for clients and internal leadership, providing clear status reporting, recommendations, escalation, and resolution of critical issues.
- Optimize resource allocation across projects, including labour, engineering capacity, materials, equipment, and external partners.
- Mentor project team members and lead continuous improvement of project management standards, tools, lessons learned, and delivery practices.
- Travel to customer sites may be required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in engineering, project management, construction management, or related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and senior project leadership experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive project management experience, including responsibility for large, complex,
multidisciplinary projects; experience in water treatment, industrial fabrication, infrastructure, or construction is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple concurrent projects, establish priorities, manage competing demands, and deliver reliably against critical deadlines.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of water treatment processes, environmental regulations, project delivery methods, and relevant industry best practices.
- Executive-level written and oral communication skills, including well-developed reporting, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management capabilities.
- Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams, including the ability to coach project professionals, build accountability, and influence without direct authority.
- Strong commercial judgement and advanced problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making abilities in high-risk project environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing client expectations, contract changes, project financials, and executive-level escalations.
- Ability to operate independently, set strategic priorities, and make timely decisions with incomplete or evolving information.
- Consistent record of ownership, reliability, and professional accountability.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong command of project controls, documentation, forecasting, and reporting.
- Collaborative and credible with technical, operational, commercial, client, and regulatory stakeholders.
