About the Role

Our client, a prominent online retailer, is looking for a talented and experienced E-commerce Website Developer (Frontend) to enhance their digital storefront in Kimberley, Northern Cape. This role is critical in building and maintaining a visually appealing, user-friendly, and high-performing website that drives sales and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in modern frontend technologies, a keen eye for design, and a solid understanding of e-commerce best practices. You will collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, backend developers, and the marketing team to translate design concepts into interactive web experiences that convert visitors into loyal customers. This position offers a blend of collaborative in-office work and remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, test, and maintain responsive and high-performance frontend components for the e-commerce website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Implement user interfaces based on designs provided by UI/UX designers, ensuring cross-browser and cross-device compatibility.
- Optimize website speed, performance, and loading times to improve user experience and search engine rankings.
- Integrate frontend code with backend systems and APIs to ensure seamless functionality.
- Collaborate with backend developers to define and implement website features and functionalities.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
- Work closely with the marketing team to implement A/B tests and conversion rate optimization (CRO) strategies.
- Troubleshoot and debug frontend issues,



providing timely solutions to maintain website integrity.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest frontend development trends, technologies, and e-commerce innovations.
- Ensure the website adheres to accessibility standards (WCAG).

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in frontend web development, with a focus on e-commerce websites.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (including preprocessors like SASS/LESS), and JavaScript (ES6+).
- Experience with contemporary JavaScript frameworks/libraries such as React, Vue.js, or Angular.
- Familiarity with frontend build tools (e.g., Webpack, Babel) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices as they relate to frontend development.
- Experience with performance optimization techniques for web applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working in a hybrid environment.
