Surrey, BC | $135,000–$155,000 + Bonus + RRSP | 100% Onsite Are you a CPA who wants to do more than report on what already happened?
A fast-growing, family-owned manufacturing and distribution organization is looking for an experienced Finance Lead / Controller to become a trusted financial partner to ownership and help guide the company through its next stage of growth.
This is an opportunity for a solid Controller who enjoys being hands‑on while also operating strategically — someone who can look ahead 6–12 months, assess new opportunities, challenge assumptions, manage risk, and help ownership make smart financial decisions.
For the right person, there is significant opportunity to grow with the organization, with the potential to progress into a Director of Finance role.
Why This Opportunity? $135,000–$155,000 base salary
Annual bonus following the first year
RRSP matching up to 5%
Extended health benefits
Opportunity to become a trusted right hand to ownership
Lead an established 3-person finance team
Join an organization in an exciting growth and expansion phase
Opportunity to influence strategy, systems, processes and financial decision-making
Exposure to Canadian and U.S. entities and international operations
Clear opportunity for the position to grow in scope and seniority
What You'll Be Doing This is much more than a traditional accounting role. You'll provide financial leadership across the organization while helping ownership evaluate where the business is going next.
Key responsibilities include:
Act as a strategic business partner to ownership , providing financial insight and recommendations on key business decisions
Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
Develop forward-looking projections and help the business plan 6–12+ months ahead
Evaluate new projects, investments and business opportunities to determine their financial viability and expected return

Provide insight into costing, margins, inventory, cash flow and profitability
Oversee cash and asset management, banking relationships and financing activities
Prepare financial models, forecasts and business cases to support financing and investment decisions
Manage foreign exchange exposure and risk
Oversee accounting and finance activities across multiple related entities , including a U.S. entity
Lead and mentor the existing finance team
Strengthen internal controls, reporting processes and financial systems
Partner with other departments as Finance serves as a key touchpoint throughout the organization
Work with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders and other financial partners
Identify opportunities to automate repetitive financial and administrative processes
Provide oversight and support across certain administrative, HR and IT functions
What We're Looking For The ideal candidate combines robust technical accounting expertise with the ability to think commercially and strategically.
Must-haves include:
CPA designation with several years of post-designation experience
Strong Controller-level or senior finance leadership experience
Experience within manufacturing, distribution or a similarly inventory-intensive environment
Robust understanding of inventory management, costing and margins
Demonstrated experience with forecasting, budgeting, cash flow and financial modelling
Ability to evaluate deals, projects and investments from a financial and commercial perspective
Experience leading and developing an accounting/finance team

Exposure to multi-entity accounting
Comfort working with U.S. entities and cross-border considerations
Experience with foreign exchange
Strong systems aptitude and willingness to learn and implement new technology
Experience working in a smaller or mid-sized organization where leaders need to be both strategic and hands‑on is strongly preferred
The Right Fit We're looking for someone who is:
A team player who builds strong relationships across departments
Hands‑on and willing to roll up their sleeves when needed
Strategic, commercially minded and comfortable providing recommendations to ownership
Calm, steady and solutions‑oriented
Flexible and comfortable operating in a growing, entrepreneurial environment
Interested in understanding the entire finance function — not simply managing it from a distance
Comfortable learning new systems and finding better ways to do things
Looking for a long‑term home where they can build relationships, make an impact and grow with the business
About the Organization The company is an established Canadian manufacturing, sourcing and distribution business with more than 50 years of history and approximately 30 employees at its Surrey operation.
The organization is in an exciting period of evolution and growth, with international suppliers, significant inventory operations, product design and engineering capabilities, U.S. operations, and continued geographic expansion.
Its products serve customers across sectors including forestry, mining, agriculture, commercial, industrial and consumer markets.
If you're an experienced CPA and finance leader who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands‑on leadership — and you're looking for an organization where you can become a genuine partner to ownership and grow with the business — we'd love to hear from you.
