Lead complex substation design in Calgary with Qualus, applying electrical engineering expertise across transmission and distribution projects.
As a Lead Electrical Engineer and Professional Engineer, you will guide substation projects from concept through commissioning. The work includes technical leadership, design oversight, client coordination, and mentoring engineers, EITs, and designers. You will support utility and renewable energy clients while expanding Qualus’s Canadian presence.
Key Responsibilities: Lead 12 kV to 500 kV substation planning and delivery
Serve as Professional-of-Record for technical accuracy and compliance
Approve layouts, grounding designs, studies, and equipment selections
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and review vendor submissions




Support construction through field reviews and technical issue resolution
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Canadian Skilled Engineer registration, preferably in British Columbia
10–15 years’ transmission and distribution experience
Strong expertise in substation layouts, grounding, bus design, and equipment integration
Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE, IEC, and OH&S; requirements
Bring substation leadership, technical judgment, and client communication skills to Qualus’s Calgary engineering team.
