Support community safety and wellness as a Community Outreach Specialist with Fred Victor in Toronto and surrounding areas. Use trauma-informed care and harm reduction daily.

This full-time, reduced full-time, or part time contract role supports people accessing Respites, Warming Centres, and Hub locations. You will build respectful connections, provide resource navigation, and respond to safety or wellness concerns. The work requires calm communication, clear boundaries, and collaboration with shelter staff, case management, security, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct outreach around Respites, Warming Centres, and Hub locations
- Maintain welcoming presence through walk-throughs and community engagement
- Support de-escalation using trauma-informed and harm reduction approaches




- Connect individuals with emergency services and nearby resources
- Document engagements, incidents, and notable events respectfully

Requirements:

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Client-centered, empathetic approach supporting diverse clients
- Ability to remain calm during crises
- Self-motivation, reliability, and professionalism
- Availability for scheduled day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts
