Lead Fire Prevention and Training for the City of Colwood, applying fire codes and operational expertise in a senior management position. Support protected, effective service delivery and emergency response as scheduled.

Reporting to the Fire Chief, the Assistant Fire Chief supports administration, planning, coordination, and continuous improvement. The current portfolio covers fire inspections, development review, investigations, public education, community risk reduction, and training. The position also acts as a Duty Chief within the region.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the department’s fire inspection program and development review
- Oversee fire investigations, public education, and risk reduction
- Direct departmental training development, coordination, and delivery




- Support Fire Department administration, planning, and continuous improvement
- Respond to emergencies as a scheduled regional Duty Chief

Requirements:

- Eight years of progressively responsible Fire Service experience
- Five or more years in a Senior Officer role
- Knowledge of provincial codes, NFPA, CAN/ULC, and CSA standards
- Valid Class 3 licence with Air Brake Endorsement
- ICS 300 and Emergency Medical certification
