About the Role

Our client, a diversified multinational group with significant interests in infrastructure and services, is seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel specializing in Litigation and Dispute Resolution. This is a crucial role within the legal department, responsible for managing and overseeing a broad range of contentious matters. Key Responsibilities

- Manage and conduct significant litigation and dispute resolution matters across various jurisdictions.
- Develop and implement effective legal strategies for complex commercial disputes, regulatory investigations, and arbitrations.
- Brief and manage external counsel, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with company objectives.
- Provide legal advice to business units on risk mitigation and proactive dispute avoidance.
- Draft legal pleadings, correspondence, and settlement agreements.
- Conduct legal research and prepare opinions on complex legal issues.




- Advise on compliance and regulatory enforcement matters.
- Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with internal reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with remote teams and stakeholders to gather information and support case preparation.

Requirements

- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 10 years' post-qualification experience, with a strong emphasis on commercial litigation and dispute resolution.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution.
- Proven ability to develop and execute successful legal strategies.
- In-depth knowledge of South African civil procedure and relevant substantive law.
- Excellent analytical, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a demanding caseload in a remote setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in cross-border litigation is a significant advantage.
