This is a hands-on, highly independent role ideal for a self-motivated professional comfortable running the barn with minimal daily oversight. You will serve as the primary person on site, directing part time or casual helpers during heavy operational periods, facility projects, or busy farm days.

- Continuously monitor horse health, administer medications, and provide emergency first aid as required.
Land, Equipment & Facility Maintenance:
- Safely operate farm machinery (tractors, mowers, loaders) to harrow paddocks/fields, move hay, and maintain pastures.
- Maintain pastures, riding arenas, stalls, fencing, and gates to strict safety and cleanliness standards.
- Execute pasture rotation, mud control, and manure management.
- Conduct regular property inspections and perform hands-on repairs using hand and power tools.
Operations & Owner Reporting:
- Report directly to the Farm Owner, providing routine updates on equine health, property needs,
and operational schedules.
- Work autonomously to prioritize daily tasks, order feed/bedding/supplies, and manage inventory levels.
- Direct and coordinate part-time or casual barn helpers as needed for stall cleaning, heavy projects, or coverage.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Equine Expertise: Strong hands-on background in horse care, feeding programs, handling, blanketing, and health monitoring.
- Equipment Skills: Demonstrated experience safely operating tractors and farm implements (harrowing, moving hay) and performing basic repairs with power tools.
- Independence & Leadership: Self-directed mindset with the ability to manage time effectively without direct oversight and comfortably guide part-time support when extra hands are on site.
- Physical Capability: Ability to comfortably perform physically demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions, including lifting feed bags, hay bales, bedding, and fencing materials.
Licensing & Credentials: Valid driver's license required and reliable transportation. Equine First Aid certification is considered a strong asset.
Schedule & Working Conditions
- Standard Schedule: Generally 40 hours per week, running 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
- Operational Flexibility: Working with live animals requires schedule flexibility for seasonal shifts, weather events, and equine emergencies. Occasional work on early mornings, evenings, weekends, or statutory holidays may be required.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
