Locations: Chattanooga, TN | Detroit, MI | San Antonio, TX | Orlando, FL
Position: Independent Contractor / Subcontractor
Schedule: Flexible, project-based
Potential: Opportunity to grow into consistent part-time or full time work

About the Role

Tekamo HD and Fortis HD are looking for local videographers to help us capture real mechanics, real equipment, and real work.

We create content around heavy-duty mechanics, tools, equipment, service trucks, repair shops, field service, and the people who keep the heavy equipment industry moving.

We’re expanding our content production across the U.S. and are looking for reliable videographers based in or near:

- Chattanooga, Tennessee
- Detroit, Michigan
- San Antonio, Texas
- Orlando, Florida

This is a paid subcontract position to start, with shoots scheduled as projects become available in your region. For the right people, there is potential for considerably more work and eventually a part time or full-time position.

This is not a work-from-home videography position. You’ll travel locally to shops, job sites, service calls, and other filming locations in your area.

What You'll Be Filming

Most shoots involve following heavy-duty mechanics while they work.

Content may include:

- Heavy equipment repairs and service calls
- Mechanics working in shops and in the field
- Service truck and toolbox tours
- Tools and product demonstrations
- Short-form social content
- Interviews and conversations with mechanics
- Behind-the-scenes footage
- Fortis HD product content
- Tekamo HD YouTube and social media content

A lot of what we do is unscripted. You need to recognize interesting moments as they happen rather than waiting for someone to tell you exactly where to point the camera.

What We're Looking For

You should:

- Own or have reliable access to professional camera equipment
- Be capable of shooting high-quality 4K video
- Understand exposure, focus, frame rates, white balance, and composition
- Know how to capture clean, usable audio
- Be comfortable filming handheld and adapting quickly to changing situations
- Be able to follow a shot list while also using your own judgment
- Be comfortable around mechanics, tools, shops,

and heavy equipment
- Have reliable transportation
- Have a valid driver's license
- Be dependable and responsive
- Be able to transfer and organize large amounts of footage after shoots
- Be willing to occasionally work early mornings, evenings, or weekends depending on the mechanic's schedule
- Have a good attitude and be willing to learn

You need to be able to think for yourself.

We won't always have someone standing beside you telling you what to film. If something interesting starts happening, we expect you to recognize it and capture it.

Camera Gear

You should already own a capable production setup.

At minimum, we're looking for:

- Interchangeable-lens camera capable of 4K
- Versatile lens suitable for documentary/run-and-gun filming
- Reliable wireless or lav microphone system
- On-camera or shotgun microphone
- Extra batteries and media
- Tripod or other appropriate support
- Ability to back up and transfer footage

Action cameras, additional camera bodies, lighting, gimbals, drones, and 32-bit float audio equipment are all assets.

Heavy Equipment Experience?

Not required.

You don't need to know the difference between an excavator and a dozer on day one.

But you do need to be curious.

Being mechanically inclined, having experience around construction or automotive environments, or simply being comfortable getting dirty and working around tradespeople is a major plus.

This is a blue-collar industry. We aren't looking for someone who needs a perfectly controlled studio environment to make good content.

Editing

Basic editing experience is an asset, particularly DaVinci Resolve, but this position is primarily focused on capturing great footage.

There may also be opportunities for editing and additional content production depending on your skillset.

What Makes Someone a Great Fit

We're especially interested in someone who:

- Notices things other people miss
- Asks good questions
- Can talk naturally with mechanics and tradespeople
- Doesn't need constant supervision
- Takes feedback without getting defensive
- Wants to improve their craft
- Shows up when they say they're going to show up
- Understands that good storytelling matters just as much as expensive camera gear

You do not need 10 years of professional production experience.

A talented newer videographer with good instincts, solid fundamentals, and the right attitude may be a better fit than someone with a huge résumé who can't work independently.

Why Work With Us?

Tekamo HD has built its media around showcasing mechanics and the heavy equipment industry, with a focus on promoting the trade and the people working in it. Job example

You'll get the opportunity to:

- Film interesting people and equipment
- Build experience in documentary-style production
- Work on content distributed through Tekamo HD and Fortis HD
- Build a portfolio in a unique industry
- Take on additional shoots as we expand in your region
- Potentially grow from freelance work into a regular part-time or full-time role

We're looking for people we can build a long-term working relationship with, not just someone to shoot one video.
