Are you a seasoned FANUC robotics specialist who excels at high-speed automation and building clean, efficient robot code from the ground up?
We are seeking a Senior FANUC Robot Programmer for an immediate contract engagement. In this role, you will lead the robotic commissioning, path optimization, and DCS configuration for complex, high-throughput automated systems.
FANUC Robot Programmer (Contract)
Job Type: 6-month contract (with possibility to extend or be hired permanently)
Location: On-site (KWC region)
If you are a true robot programming expert—not just a point-toucher—who thrives on shaving milliseconds off cycle times and establishing seamless multi-arm coordination, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
- From-Scratch Robot Programming: Develop, write, and commission complete FANUC robotic motion programs and logic from a clean slate to project specifications.
- High-Speed Path Optimization: Fine-tune motion paths, acceleration/deceleration parameters, and interlocks to hit rigorous, ultra-quick cycle targets (under 5 seconds).
- Multi-Arm Coordination & Safety: Define and configure robot-to-robot interference zones, interlocks, handshakes, and Dual Check Safety (DCS) zones.
- On-Site Commissioning & Debugging: Perform dry-run testing, integration, and live debugging on custom automation machinery alongside controls and mechanical teams.
- System Integration: Collaborate closely with PLC and systems specialists to ensure flawless handshakes and signal communication across the automation cell.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of dedicated hands-on experience programming and commissioning FANUC robots.
- High-Speed Automation Track Record: Demonstrated success optimizing motion and achieving sub-5-second cycle times.
- Ground-Up Development: Proven ability to build comprehensive robot programs from scratch (TP / Karel), rather than solely updating touch-up points or running minor edits.
- Safety Integration: Strong, practical working knowledge of FANUC DCS (Dual Check Safety) setup and zone definitions.
- Multi-Robot Workcells: Proven capability setting up multi-arm interference zones, handshakes, and collision avoidance routines.
- Travel Flexibility: Valid eligibility and documentation to travel and work across both Canada and the United States.
- Availability: Ready and able to start immediately / ASAP.
Nice-to-Haves / Assets
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation PLCs (RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000) and PLC-to-robot communications.
- Experience in non-automotive custom automation (e.g., life sciences, consumer goods, electronics, general manufacturing OEM).
- A post-secondary degree, diploma, or trade certification in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical field experience.
Contract Highlights
- Fast-track hiring process for an immediate project deployment.
- Competitive contract rates based on experience.
- Solid runway with the potential to extend well into the new year based on project pipeline and performance.
