About Us

M. Smith Carpentry is an Almonte based carpentry subcontractor serving the greater Ottawa area. We work primarily with established general contractors, builders and developers on commercial, institutional and multi unit residential projects.

Our work ranges from large scale carpentry packages on new construction projects to renovations, additions and specialized commercial installations.

We’re a small, growing company focused on quality workmanship, efficiency and building strong, long term relationships with our clients.

The Position

We’re looking for dependable, motivated Carpenters or Apprentice Carpenters to join our field crews.

Our work includes:

- Commercial finish carpentry, trim and millwork installation
- Commercial doors, frames and architectural hardware
- Wood and steel stud framing
- Exterior carpentry, siding, soffit and fascia
- Decks, stairs, ramps and structural alterations
- Commercial and institutional renovations
- Multi-unit residential construction

Successful candidates will be comfortable working as part of a small crew, following drawings and instructions, and taking ownership of assigned tasks.

Basic Requirements

- Previous carpentry or construction experience preferred
- Working knowledge of common carpentry tools and construction methods
- Ability to read drawings, take accurate measurements and follow instructions




- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation to job sites
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in an active construction environment
- Physically capable of performing general carpentry duties
- Dependable attendance, punctuality and a professional attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn new skills and take on varied work
