About The Media Firm.
The Media Firm. is a Toronto-based content marketing agency creating high-performing content for premium brands across the Greater Toronto Area. We’re now launching our own original programming, with an established audience across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube behind it.
The Series
We’re launching a recurring, social-first street interview series featuring conversations with interesting people across business, culture, creativity, and entrepreneurship: people with a story, a point of view, or something worth hearing.
The goal is to make interesting people and perspectives entertaining and easy to connect with. The content should feel conversational, relaxed, smart, and confident. It shouldn’t feel corporate, scripted, gimmicky, or built only on shock value.
The Role
We’re looking for the dedicated host of this series: the media personality audiences come to recognize as the face of the show. This is a long-term role, not a one-off gig. We want someone who grows with the series as it grows.
Your job isn’t just to talk. It’s to make the guest more interesting, and to make people stop scrolling.
We work collaboratively. We set the direction for the series, and your ideas are genuinely considered, because more good ideas means more ways to grow. We start with a paid pilot so both sides can confirm the fit before committing long-term.
What You’ll Do
- Host short-form, in-person interviews with guests across the GTA
- Review guest briefs before each production day, and bring your own question ideas
- Ask questions that spark real, shareable moments, and listen for natural follow-ups
- Help guests feel comfortable and conversational on camera
- Bring personality and energy without overpowering the guest
- Suggest hooks, formats, and angles that will drive engagement
- Look at how episodes perform, and share what you’d change next time
- Take part in about 2 to 4 batch production days per month, filming several guests per day
- Represent The Media Firm. professionally on and off camera
What We Handle
Your main job is the conversation on camera. We take care of everything else:
- Series strategy, format, and final creative direction
- Guest sourcing, scheduling, and research
- Production, filming setup, and editing
- Publishing and distribution
Who We’re Looking For
An experienced on-camera personality, whether you come from hosting, presenting, interviewing, podcasting, journalism, MC work, or content creation.
You don’t need a large following, but you do need real on-camera experience and a clear understanding of what makes short-form content work.
The strongest candidate:
- Is confident and natural on camera, with experience to show for it
- Understands social media: what hooks people, what gets shared, and why
- Knows how to ask questions that create engaging, memorable moments
- Is a genuinely good listener who makes the guest the focus
- Treats each episode like it’s theirs, and brings ideas without being asked
- Takes direction well, and commits fully once a decision is made
- Shows up prepared and on time, every time, and manages their own prep
- Tells us early if something changes, and brings a solution with it
- Respects our content. Nothing gets posted before we publish it
- Wants to be the long-term face of a series, not just appear in a few clips
Requirements
- 2+ years of on-camera experience (hosting, presenting, interviewing, or creating content on camera)
- Examples of your on-camera work to share
- Strong understanding of short-form social content on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts
- Comfortable approaching and talking with people you haven’t met
- Available for about 2 to 4 GTA production days per month
- Able to travel to different locations around the GTA (no vehicle required)
- Available to start in early November 2026
No degree, licence, or minimum follower count is needed.
This Isn’t for You If
- You’d rather be the star than make the guest shine
- You want to run the show your own way rather than build it with us
- You need a full script or constant reassurance to feel comfortable
- You get defensive about feedback, or complain without offering a fix
- You show up late or unprepared, even occasionally
- You’re mainly looking for content to grow your own channels
What Great Looks Like in Your First 90 Days
- Month 1: You complete the pilot prepared and on time, and guests leave their interviews feeling good about them.
- Month 2: You’re bringing question ideas and hooks to every shoot, and episodes are noticeably sharper.
- Month 3: You run a full production day with confidence, and your ideas are shaping the series. That’s when we review your rate and set up the long-term arrangement.
Where This Can Go
As the series grows, there may be opportunities to film in other cities and help bring the show to new regions. We can’t promise when, but the host who builds this with us from the start is who we’d want leading that.
Compensation
- $30 to $40 per hour, based on experience and fit
- Production days are typically up to 8 hours, about 2 to 4 per month
- Paid prep time before each production day
- A paid pilot to start, with your rate reviewed after the pilot based on performance
- This is paid work. Any visibility or relationships you build through the series are a bonus, not a substitute for pay. Additional production days may come as the series grows, but they aren’t guaranteed.
