Global Wholesale Machinery is hiring an experienced Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our growing team in Nisku, Alberta.

We are seeking a highly skilled, dependable, and motivated Heavy Equipment Technician with strong experience in diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and rebuilding heavy-duty construction and industrial equipment.

Our facility works with a wide range of off-highway and on-highway equipment, including Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Hitachi, Volvo, and other major equipment manufacturers.

In addition to heavy equipment maintenance and repairs, our expanding component rebuild division specializes in transmissions, torque converters, final drives, differentials, hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and complete equipment rebuilds.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Journeyman Mechanic who takes pride in quality workmanship and wants to be part of a growing heavy equipment company.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair heavy-duty construction and off-road equipment.
- Perform mechanical inspections, preventative maintenance, and major equipment repairs.
- Rebuild and recondition transmissions, torque converters, drop boxes, and differentials.
- Repair and rebuild final drives, hydraulic pumps, hydraulic cylinders, and other major components.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, powertrains, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Perform complete equipment tear-downs, rebuilds, and reassembly.
- Use diagnostic software, including Caterpillar Electronic Technician (CAT ET) and Service Information System (CAT SIS).
- Identify required parts and components using OEM service manuals and technical documentation.




- Inspect rebuilt components to ensure proper functionality and manufacturer specifications.
- Complete service reports, repair documentation, and work orders accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop.
- Follow company safety policies and industry repair standards.
- Work independently and collaboratively with other technicians and management.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician certification required (Red Seal preferred).
- Off-road heavy equipment repair experience is required.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant heavy-duty mechanical experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and powertrain systems.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing Caterpillar or similar construction equipment.
- Familiarity with CAT ET, CAT SIS, or equivalent OEM diagnostic systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems independently.
- Experience rebuilding transmissions, torque converters, final drives, or other major components is a strong asset.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and service procedures.
- Solid attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Ability to safely operate shop tools, lifting equipment, and machinery.
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently.

Additional Assets

- Experience with Allison transmissions and Detroit Diesel engines.
- CVIP certification.
- Experience with complete heavy equipment rebuilds.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience working on both off-highway equipment and heavy-duty trucks.
