We are a family owned 1100 head sow operation located near Mitchell, Ontario and we require a swine technician who has an affinity for animals and likes to work both individually and in a small team environment.

The position is mainly farrowing/breeding but overall supports daily swine care and farm operations by completing hands-on animal care and facility upkeep. This role helps maintain a safe, orderly workplace and supports consistent care of the animals. We are looking for someone who is both a team player and a self-starter, with good organizational skills in both time management and prioritizing tasks. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting with supervising farrowing, ability to handle all aspects of the farrowing barn such as midwifery, fostering, processing, vaccinating, herd health and weaning, assisting with supervising the breeding area, ability to handle all aspects of the breeding barn such as performing AI, herd health, feeding sows, vaccinating and ultrasound.



Also the ability to keep accurate records and possess an affinity to working with and caring for animals is key. The position also involves pressure washing and some heavy lifting at times. Knowledge of Nedap systems and Cloudfarms is a plus.

Starting pay is $22/hour (and depends on experience). There is also vacation entitlement, extended health benefits and bonus potential. Our work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with rotating weekends, with an average of 42.5 hours/week. Having your own reliable transportation is required. Lastly, we require the applicant to be either a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
