About IntelliMass
IntelliMass Technologies, based in Kelowna, BC, builds BackRoadIntel, a Territory and Regional Intelligence platform that gives First Nations and regional districts a current, dated record of the roads, corridors and evacuation routes across their territory. The platform combines in-vehicle capture hardware, AI-driven hazard and road-condition detection, and a custom-developed model training system. BackRoadIntel began with evacuation-route work in First Nations communities across BC and has active deployments there today.
The role
This is a software verification, ai-training and system testing role that requires backroad driving. You will validate the BackRoadIntel system end to end under real road conditions and train its detection models through our custom-developed training system. The work follows a continuous cycle: drive, label, verify, iterate and improve. We've logged nearly 50,000kms of road health data in Western Canada to date so you will be building on that to improve application and road health identification accuracy .
The position suits a recent software graduate with hands-on AI experience who enjoys drive testing and wants to see their work measured directly in model accuracy and system reliability.
Responsibilities
- Conduct drive testing across specific routes in the Okanagan region and surrounding corridors, including winter, gravel and paved conditions and multiple vehicle classes such as pickups, cars, ATVs and skidoos; some same-day travel is required.
- Verify end-to-end system behaviour from capture through processing to the delivered record
- Label and review drive data and train detection models using IntelliMass's custom training system
- Measure and report on accuracy and reliability across conditions, and iterate on each release
- Document defects and findings clearly for the engineering team
- Support testing of new platform features prior to release
