Chinook Driving Academy is seeking a professional, patient, and dependable Driving Instructor to join our team in Calgary.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in delivering high-quality instruction, values safety, and can create a calm, supportive learning workplace for students. A fully trained instructor with a valid Class 4 licence is preferred; however, we are also open to training the right candidate under contract.

What You’ll Do

- Deliver professional in-car driving lessons to students with varying experience levels
- Teach safe driving habits, defensive driving techniques, road awareness, and the rules of the road
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to help students improve and build confidence
- Assess student progress through observation and practical evaluation
- Adapt your teaching style to meet the needs of individual learners
- Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students, parents, and team members
- Foster a calm, positive, and supportive learning environment
- Travel throughout Calgary for lessons, including NW, NE, SW, and SE
- Complete required instructor paperwork accurately and on time
- Maintain accurate lesson records and student progress updates
- Assist with basic vehicle cleanliness, upkeep,



and maintenance awareness to ensure the vehicle remains safe and lesson-ready
- Stay current with Alberta traffic laws, regulations, and safe driving best practices
- Typical teaching schedule may include up to 6 hours per day / 3 lessons per day, depending on availability and demand

What We’re Looking For

- Valid Class 4 driver’s licence preferred
- Clean driving record
- Minimum 5 years of driving experience
- Strong knowledge of Alberta traffic laws and safe driving practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Calm, observant, professional, and reliable
- Organized and responsible with administrative tasks and record-keeping
- Ability to assess student needs and adjust instruction accordingly
- Strong commitment to delivering safe, high-quality instruction

Preferred Assets

- Certified driving instructor credentials
- Previous experience in driving instruction, coaching, teaching, or training
- Ability to teach both classroom and in-car lessons is an asset
- Own vehicle is preferred, although a company vehicle may be available
- Independent contractor arrangement preferred
- Evening and weekend availability is preferred and can be discussed

Compensation

Pay: $28.00–$38.00 per hour
Compensation is based on experience, position, and whether the candidate already holds a Class 4 licence or requires training.

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
- Evening and weekend availability preferred
