About CYD

CYD Football Academy helps young players across Calgary develop their football skills, game understanding and confidence through structured coaching.

We’re hiring enthusiastic, reliable Assistant Coaches and Head Coaches. Current and former university or college players, experienced coaches, and former professional or semi-professional players are encouraged to apply.

A coaching role that works around your studies

We understand that classes, assignments and exams take priority during busy academic periods. We work with you to agree on consistent coaching shifts around your availability, with flexibility during exam periods when arranged in advance.

You’ll gain practical coaching and leadership experience while earning an income and continuing your education. Students and applicants who are no longer studying are welcome.

Your responsibilities

- Lead or support training sessions following the CYD curriculum.
- Demonstrate skills clearly and give players useful, encouraging feedback.
- Keep sessions organised, engaging and appropriate for the players’ abilities.
- Learn players’ names and communicate their progress.
- Begin paid setup time 15 minutes before training and help organise equipment.
- Follow CYD’s Code of Conduct and player-safety procedures.

What we’re looking for





- A strong football playing or coaching background.
- Patience, enthusiasm and clear communication.
- Reliability and a professional attitude.
- Consistent availability for agreed evening and/or weekend shifts.
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable car to reach assigned Calgary training locations.

A C Licence/C Diploma or higher, youth coaching experience, and current First Aid/CPR certification are assets.

Successful applicants must complete the background screening and safety training required for their role before working with players.

Pay and benefits

- $17–$30/hour, depending on the position. The $30/hour rate applies to technical director or management roles.
- Paid required setup, administration and training time.
- Flexible scheduling around classes and exams, agreed in advance.
- Up to $500 annually toward approved studies after completing one season, with advance approval and receipts.
- An annual performance bonus of up to $500.
- Support toward approved coaching qualifications.
- Opportunities to progress into senior roles, depending on performance, qualifications and available positions.
