Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant with at least two years of accounting experience, including experience in a supermarket or wholesale trading company. The successful candidate must speak Mandarin and will be responsible for daily accounting activities, account reconciliations, cost verification, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice verification, payment preparation, collections, and account reconciliation.
- Record daily transactions and maintain accurate general ledger entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and supplier and customer statements; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Review purchase orders, invoices, and shipping documents to verify product costs, freight charges, and other related expenses.
- Reconcile inventory records and assist with inventory costing and cost-of-goods-sold calculations.
- Prepare month-end journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for management review.
- Prepare GST/HST calculations and supporting records, and coordinate with external accountants on tax filings and year-end requirements.
- Communicate with Mandarin-speaking suppliers and colleagues to clarify invoices, payments, and accounting discrepancies.
- Maintain organized accounting records and help improve accounting procedures and internal controls.





Requirements

- A minimum of two years of accounting experience.
- Previous accounting experience in a supermarket or trading company.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Spoken Mandarin is required to communicate with Mandarin-speaking suppliers and colleagues.
- Candidates with QuickBooks experience are preferred.
- Sound knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end accounting.
- Understanding of inventory accounting, product costing, and cost of goods sold.
- Familiarity with Canadian accounting practices and GST/HST.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including lookup functions, pivot tables, and data reconciliation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Valuable organizational skills and the ability to manage deadlines and handle confidential financial information.

Pay: $45,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
